We're now shipping V4.0 harnesses that have been updated for a better fit, upgraded materials, and an ECU box to protect for the elements. In addition we're now a Cobb Tuning authorized dealer so make sure to grab an Accessport with your build!
For those who are looking at having us build you a harness, the sooner you get a hold of us the better we can fit into your project timeline. We have streamlined our process while still giving you the ability to customize to suit your needs and with that you can now expect approximately 4-6 week wait. If you need a specific time frame please let us know.
The goal of the kit was to build a high end race spec harness that is completely plug and play, built from scratch using bits from your Subaru harness, and customized to individual specifications. The end result is a turn key harness that can be for any type of build from the simple to the complex. Our main focus was to turn a wiring process into a mechanical one. All you need to do is to run the harness, sand a couple spots for grounds, bolt it down, and hook up the battery. Assuming the mechanical is ready to go, it should only be a couple hours of work before you'll be able to rip the car down the street.
Includes:
All Kits come with 3 fuse boxes with accessory, key on, and constant power and all basic equipment from engine to headlights, taillights, cluster, turn signals, etc.
ECU box for mounting and protection from heat/moisture
$65 Mounting hardware
Adhesive or screw in tab with heavy duty zip tie
Self-fusing rubber tape to eliminate any vibration between the harness and clamps
[/LIST]
Options Include:
Cruise Control
ABS
Daytime Running Lights
Power Mirrors

Harness will come with heat and moisture resistant cover to protect the ECU. Please excuse the prototype, the final product will be much nicer looking and fitting as well as have a layer of heat reflective material and weatherstripping to seal and eliminate vibrations and noise.

Huge compliment from Jim B. #054 (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153481670441242&set=o.115786161784988&type=3&theater)
"Plugged in the wires, turned on the key. Started right up.
Doesn't get any better than that.
Thanks for your help."
"Cant wait to get it. I do believe this is the way to go. I've wasted enough time trying to get my harness to fit. Thanks for offering this service!!"
"Yeah, (dieting the OEM harness) was a lot of time and work and in the end, it's a hacked up harness. I could probably...maybe...make my own (harness) from scratch, but I don't have time or desire too. Dan really encouraged me to go your route after getting his."
"I will say that I spent about 30 minutes laying out the harness on the floor then about 2 hours routing it in the car and the car started.
VS
2 months of wire diet, money for more wire, money for tape, money for burn ointment, and an unspecified amount of frustration with Subaru wiring and their color code. When I do this again, your harness will be in the budget from the beginning."
"I just started laying my iWire harness in this weekend. I was reminded of the workmanship and couldn't help but think to myself that I was happy to have shelled out the coin for such a nice product."

Hi Brian,
You indicated this was for an "R" model, but many of the things you listed as being supported would be needed only for street models. Is that to say this would also work in an 818S?

Hi Brian,
You indicated this was for an "R" model, but many of the things you listed as being supported would be needed only for street models. Is that to say this would also work in an 818S?
I plan to license my "R" like I have done my Challenge car so I need the basic street items for inspection.

Haha! I think we he is trying to say is that's it's not big deal to have those provisions in there so you can use them later if you decide you need them.

Ditto. I have no plans even for headlights (no night-time enduro runs, so no need, the buckets aren't even going in). No turn signals, no horn, no wiper, no license plate light...that's a race car. The harness looks really nice, but it does seem to have a lot of extra for a straight up race car...though, I would like a heated cup-holder for my customary pre-run macchiato. =)

I have raced the challenge car enough to know what a roadster needs for racing in the NW. We have to deal with early/late darkness, rain, fog and occasional snow. We can't wait for perfect weather as we never get it, thus lights are a must around here. As Brian said it is customized on a per customer basis.

We can accommodate that, not problem. If all I need to wire up is the engine plus some outputs, it'll actually bring the cost down. The biggest time spent on these is running all of the exterior body equipment.

I received my harness on Friday, top notch, very high quality. I have not had a chance t install the harness yet, need to do some more work, but I did some engine work and I attached the harness to engine and battery and I was able to fire up the engine standalone. Nice job Brian ! Harness I sent weighed was 49lbs the harness I got back was 23lbs (all connector, modules, fuse boxes, etc.), nice job (as I have a bunch of extra wires run for future stuff). I'm 200% pleased with the work that you have done. More to come as I install. This is something that Dave needs to pick up on ASAP.

The piece is really clean, good quality, and just happens to fit beautifully in the dash. The buttons/switches as well as the panel itself are solid. I'm going to see if they'll make a 4 aux switch version.

I'm here to help! :)
my friend and I decided to try and tackle just building the harness ourselves from scratch. definitely time consuming, using one of my garage doors to post all the diagrams on. From what I noticed, there are very few actual fuses in the main circuits you actually need, kinda crazy to think about. I would also have to say Subaru's diagrams kinda suck imo. Now that we got it going, seems a lot easier than trying to make the stock harness work as it was. My only worry is if we might have deleted something critical for the ECU to function, flash, etc. since we deleted so many things, hopefully it all works out! We basically wired in only what we needed to control the engine and cluster basically, everything else such as lights, etc. we put all on their own separate circuit controlled by a switch panel, is there any issue doing it that way?
Jaime
06-24-2014, 09:12 PM
I'm doing something similar and I left behind at least 75% of the factory wires. Keep in mind that I'm keeping cruise control, radio, all the switches on the steering column, and wiring in heat/defrost.
The biggest problem with the Subaru diagrams is that they leave out anything not relevant to the system that's on that page. There's a bunch of cases where it looks like a wire only goes to one place but it really goes to many places and you have to look at several diagrams to get the whole picture.
My strategy is to cut all the grounds apart and run them to a local chassis point when I install. I also cut all the power supply wires to each system so I can use a single smaller fusebox. I left as much wire as I possibly could, but I ended up extending many of them. The only devices I have under the dash are the high beam and daytime running light relays. Everything else is under the engine cover. I don't like working under dashboards.

^ that's kind of how we started, but after the tangled mess we had, it resulted in plugging in the main engine plugs, and the ecu plugs, then chopping everything off, and wiring everything starting right at the ecu. Know this now, I wish I would have budgeted either a wiring service like in this thread, or done Wayne's stand alone setup.

Any plans on modifying factory harnesses to work as stand alone factory ECU? With just a power ground and switched lead coming off for hook up.
I can definitely build that if anyone wants it. I've done similar setups for VWs and Porsche's that already have the body side of the harness. It's not quite that simple since there are some inputs/outputs left over. Off the top of my head the leads that would be left over to hook up are:
Battery power
Ignition (Key on) Power
Starter
Cluster inputs (VSS/Tach/CEL/Coolant/Oil Pressure) - I could also wire up the cluster as part of the build if you choose
Radiator fans (ground side trigger to a relay from ECU)
There are probably a few more that I can recall at the moment, but that's the basic setup. You would still have to figure out how you want to run all of the body functions like headlights/turn signals/illumination/etc. This is no easy feat unless you are running the bare minimum to be able to get away with a couple switches to run things. It will also get a bit more clumsy/messy unless you tie into the fuseboxes I use to run the engine.
my friend and I decided to try and tackle just building the harness ourselves from scratch. definitely time consuming, using one of my garage doors to post all the diagrams on.
It may work out OK. I use a combination of both factory and new. I cut out everything that isn't related to the engine and run fresh wire for everything body related while reusing plugs as needed.
My guess is that will be a bit tough to do this way. The end result will probably be a fusebox area that is the same size because of the number of fuses required for both constant and ignition powered systems.
Hey I am r spec!
Hahaha! You are the harness. ;) I need to come up with a better name for the harness since it works in both Rs and Ss.

I'm fairly confident I can get down to one fusebox from the two that came in the donor - I'm using the same one you put in your harness. If I didn't enjoy electrical work, I would have had you do mine.

There is no way around it. You need them. I asked Brian at IWire the same thing.

ok, I wasn't sure if it was just simply a voltage reference back to the ecu that could be replicated. I planned on running my car s2000 style with a key and push button, but wasn't sure if there was a way around the immobilizer.

As Chad said, no way around it but it's pretty easy to basically ignore it like we did with his harness. As long as the box is working and can pick up the key frequency, it'll be happy so you can use any start method you like.

Ok, I just ran into the first problem that actually confused me. This is for an 06 wrx, on the diagrams it shows the VSS as a 4 pin connector. Clearly the sensor in the transmission is a 3 wire. I've gone through diagrams for the past hour and cannot figure out why the diagrams all conflict. I have only found 1 connector that fits into the speed sensor in the trans, so I plan on just using it. The problem I'm having is the wire color doesn't match any of the diagrams, but it's the only connector I've found that fits into the sensor. I was wondering if you had any idea which pin was what on the VSS? So far all I've established is 1 pin goes to the cluster obviously (Green/Yellow wire), 1 goes to ground in the same wiring as the fuel level sensor/a couple ECU pins (Black/Red), and 1 goes to the DLC in a bout a million splices(Green/Black). Im just not sure which ones to wire where, since the diagram shows the sensor as a 4 wire, so the pin numbers are different than the 3 wire I found. Any help would be awesome!

Yep it's just a jumper. It's a 4 pin connector but only 3 pins are used. I take out the jumper and just wire it direct to the 3 pin plug at the sensor.

Ok, I talked to the guy I bought the car from, he replaced that connector a while back, so none of the wire colors match. That's what was confusing me. He eliminated that jumper wire. So what order do the pins go? I'm not sure which wire to connect where.
Jaime
07-11-2014, 10:37 AM
Pin 1 is signal - it's usually Green/Yellow. It goes to the ECU and the cluster (and the TCM on an Automatic).
Pin 2 is ground - should be Black/Red.
Pin 3 is +12V ignition power. Should be Green/Black.

Depends on what you are trying to do. I use the single bussed fuse and wire up the relays one by one, but you could use a non bussed as well depending on how many relays/fuses you need to hook up and what kind of power they need.

Depending on how many circuits you keep and if you combine them, you can end up needing a lot of space. I didn't use busses boxes because some of my circuits are battery powered and some are ignition powered.

It's so unlikley. Pretty much the only time I've ever seen the main fuse blow is if you arc the alternator when taking the terminal off with the battery still connected. I put an extra main fuse in the box so you should have one you can carry down so at least you can keep going if something were to happen.
Do we get an upgrade ?
Do you want a circuit breaker? It's not really an improvement so to speak, just adds options because some are partial to one over the other.

Same price as R. It might be a little more depending on how many add-ons you want. I need the factory Subaru harness because I use it as the base to build this one. Besides the factory harness, ECU, and fuel pump controller I just need the lighting plugs and the fuel tank plugs that FF provides.

Hello, I'm really interested in this wiring kit but I have an 05 STI donor car and it has become my full track car. Therefore, my stock wiring harness is pretty much cut up for weight saving purpose. I have a few questions. This is for the S model as I like to be street use but more of a hybrid like an RS a little bit more on the track side.
1). I will be using my 05 STI as donor and I would like to see if the harness will work or I may decide to use the 04 STI ECU to eliminate the immobilizer or can I just use a 06 WRX ECU which is a 2.5L? Whichever is easiest.
2). Of course I wouldn't be needing the DCCD function and I will be using the 05 STI dash cluster instead of a WRX. Can it be wired up using the STI cluster?
3). Like I said, my stock 05 STI wiring hardness is chopped up. So do I need to sent in my stock harness or how's that going to work out? I really like to avoid to spend the time to take the stock harness out if not needed.
If I can avoid using the stock harness that would be perfect.
Thank you.

1. Yes, we can do that no problem. However, I would suggest that you leave the 05 ECU in there. It's actually a better ECU to tune. The problem with the 04 it's basically designed as a 2.0 WRX ECU and they slapped the drive by wire and AVCS as it was a bit of a band-aid for Subaru to get the first USDM STi out. The 05 ECU is the first actually built for USDM STi platform.
2. STi cluster, and any cluster someone might desire is not a problem. The plugs are the same as USDM WRX, it just has extra pins for the extra features.
3. What exactly is cut? Ideally I would need the ECU to engine section uncut as we use some of the stock harness as a base. Beyond that, it doesn't really matter as I can use just the leftover pieces or grab them off a scrap harness from here. Shoot me some pictures to iwiresales at gmail.com
Thanks,
Brian

2 for 2.
Just a heads up to anyone still looking for an engine. Any Impreza turbo/non turbo engine from 93-07 can be wired up with the factory ECU and will bolt right in to the 818. I generally recommend 02 and up because it opens up all of the modern tuning options, but it's not requirement.

2014 UPDATE:
Happy New Year to everyone! Can't tell you guys how excited we are over here with 15 818 harnesses in just over half of the year in 2014.
In addition, for those who are looking at having us build you a harness, the sooner you get a hold of us the better we can fit into your project timeline. Currently we have 13 people in line so that's somewhere around 2-3 months backlog. We're working on streamlining the process in order to speed up turnaround time, but even that will take some time in order to be able to customize to each individuals needs and keep the quality top notch.

How much of the factory harness are you using? Just the plug ends? I am contemplating your service, but I've got two donor vehicles (long story). One is an 04 FXT (5MT) that has a good motor and transmission with low miles (61K), but main fuse panel under hood was pretty mangled in the collision that took the car off the road, and I had to cut all the wires in half at the point where they'd go through the firewall (again, because of the collision...the thing got T-boned in the driver's door). The other harness is out of a high mileage 2006 WRX (5MT), and it's pristine, but if you're effectively taking the plug ends and building a new harness, maybe I could resell the pristine harness to help defer the costs...

Ideally the ECU to engine section would be intact, but in this case we could probably make it work. However, which ECU and engine are you planning on running. 04 FXT and 06 WRX do not use the same ECU.

That sort of depends on the wiring, honestly. As I said, I've got two donors, an 04 FXT and an 06 WRX. The long block I'm using will be from the 04 FXT. I've got ECUs for both, but no key for the 04 FXT. I don't think that's a problem because I believe the 04 FXT was the last year before the immobilizer, but you'd know better on that front. I'd like to use the WRX instrument cluster, but the idea of skipping the immobilizer nonsense sounds pretty nice to me. Honestly, though, I'm fine running either ECU. I'd defer to your experience on the matter.
My plan prior to considering your service was to use the 04 FXT long block with all the accessories from the 06 WRX including wiring harness and instrument cluster.

I really haven’t paid a lot of attention to this thread until now, to the point that I didn’t really even fully understand what it was about. However. after reading through the entire thread, I’m growing very, VERY interested. I detest wiring, and am not remotely good at it. I am absolutely terrorized by the prospect of dealing with the factory wiring harness when it becomes necessary four to six months down the road. While I’m not that thrilled about adding $2K+ to the cost of my project, it would remove the only really serious obstacle to its successful completion. So I’ll probably bite.
Brian, my project is based on a 2004 NA Impreza (Outback Sport, actually). I have the entire harness from the ’04 donor car. However, because the ’04 NA ECU was not tunable, I bought an ’02 ECU (which has since been mail-order tuned by Delicious Tuning of San Diego CA). I also bought an ’02 Harness out of a salvage yard (it seems to be a lot less bulky than my ’04, so I think it is just the engine harness), along with an ‘02 instrument cluster and an ’02 Intake Manifold (which has since been ported, polished and ceramic coated by Grimmspeed) to eliminate any potential incompatibilities between the older ECU and the rest of the car.
Will the hodgepodge mix and match of my components make my harness less (or more) doable from your perspective? If so, will it have any impact in either direction on the cost? When is the best time to call to avoid slowing down progress on somebody else’s harness?

I'd just stick with all 04 FXT. I can set it up to run either cluster, no big deal on that front. If you run the 06 WRX manifold you'll really need to run the 06 WRX harness which means immobilizer which you mentioned you don't want.

Sorry to hear you feel like you wasted your time, this sentiment seems pretty common as we have done a couple harnesses for people in your exact position. Yeah, it looks great, but it's still in the box... I've been busy with work and home buying, so the amount of time and energy I've had for the 818 lately has been extremely limited!
let me know how your headlights turn out once you get them in and adjusted. Wondering if you will have the same problem azpete was having.
It looks like the root cause of Pete's issue with the Spyder projector headlights is that they're rotated in comparison to how they're mounted in the Camry. Although there's no roll adjustment, if it's a real issue, the projector assembly could probably be rotated to level the field stop (the aperture between the lamp and lens which creates the beam cut-off pattern); that might require some destructive re-work, though.
This is very true, however, there were no 818s there!
Yeah, that was a bummer.
I really appreciate the compliments, a lot goes into each harness.
That's obvious! We often spec and procure custom cables at work, and I can say it's a tough job. Our suppliers charge a lot and often make mistakes; it's a tough business.
I haven't installed mine yet, but I'd be very surprised if I don't have the same result that others have had... plug and play. I know it's a big expense to an 818 budget, but considering the customizability, service and quality Brian provides, it's a great value.

What Chad said. We'll just tuck it away. Key only needs to be in there to to have the immobilizer antenna pick up the RFID signal.

If you REALLY wanted it, you could remove the whole harness and send it back. I could modify it to be like the 2.0 harnesses.

Haha! I should post up a fuse donation box so everyone can send their unused fuses to me. I'll hoard them and if people need fuses I'll send them out; but mostly just use them for 818 builds. ;)

Hey Brian,
My Running 818 MT5 has an 04 FXT automatic ECU. The ECU has been reflashed to 04 FXT MT.
There was a CANBUS going from the ECU to TCM. Do you think there would be any useful information on that canbus out of the ECU?
I want to use it for a dash display and data logging.

I doubt it. If you look at the I/O page of the pre CAN TCM modules you'll see the individual signals (likely the same items in digital format for CAN) that are for things like VSS, torque control, AT diagnosis, and MAF.

Can I just ask...since you have backlog and many builders are the DIYers (obviously)...can you please offer a package with connectors and directions so we can do it ourselves? $2200 is steep, but I understand the time involved and reason for cost. I would think there would be others interested in a package that just had connectors, module color guide and lengths. We could purchase our own wire and bundling, we could splice, solder, extend, shrink, bundle, etc. on our own. You could possibly sell a lot and do it quickly

You could probably just number every connector on your layout, say connect 1 to 7, 8 to 2, 3 to 5, etc., then write distances on the board and just take an overhead picture for your guide.

We have considered this but our biggest concern is providing good value for your dollar, which we feel that we have done well with the completed harness. The problem with value on a DIY product is that logistics of describing how build to build it would be pretty complex. Sure we can give you the parts, but step by step directions on how to piece it together would be a novel since there are just so many little things along the way. We would have to find a middle ground on that front. That is all to say that it is something we will continue to work on.
To help us out, how much would you pay for for a DIY style product?

I also would love a DIY kit. I just love to DIY, I made my own harness for my MR2 it worked out well. The 818 should be a bit more but seems manageable. Honestly I would love to just be able to be able to buy a list of connectors that are needed to run the 818 or if you could provide it for free that works too :). I just want to know what all is needed to make the ECU happy I feel there are lots of connectors and relays I wont be needing but since I have never done a Subaru harness I don't know what is all actually needed to make the car run with ___put relay or connector here_ deleted. A simple list would do it for me. I trimmed and deleted connectors on my mr2 because I had a running car to test thing on. I don't have a wrx I can test things on in this case sadly.
However if all I had to do was source my own harness and I was able to buy a DIY kit from you that included everything minus the OEM connectors I would think a price in the three digits would be reasonable? I know the non OEM connectors can get expensive as can buying different color wiring unless you get it in bulk. I don't mind having to terminate my own ends or even cutting the length of my wire so long as you tell me how long it need to be. If you need a test subject let me know I have decent experience and would love to be a test subject if you need one. Or if I could just buy the list of "safe to remove" relays and connectors my wallet is ready!

I would pay 3 digits just for the instructions and connectors. I'm pretty good at wiring too but with someone with amazing knowledge like Brian; I would be willing to pay. I want to wire up a push to start and ignition switch but the immobilizer system just gets confusing.

Since this harness is a complete build, having a DIY option would open the door to so many more customers wanting to do this car. For most people the turn off is the harness, most of the work for you would be prepping everything for instructions initially, after that its just cut, print pack and ship. Ill be the Beta tester for you
Considering most of the money being spent is the labor for the harness, I would pay for connectors and instructions about $500-600. and $700 with the wires included.

At the $900 option I would have jumped in much sooner. At the $2k option I had to sell more ZerodB parts. I agree that for many people like myself (mechanical guys, not hardcore EE's) the wiring is the most daunting part.

With a diy option you really have a lot of work to do still also at the same time you will be limiting the quality of the build. From personal experience of dieting my own harness and then going with the iWire harness I can tell you that it is easily the best money spent on this project. Like mechie said mechanical guys find this part of the build very daunting. Even with a word by word breakdown of what to do exactly it is really hard to replicate what goes into building an iWire quality harness.
Unless you have a strong background or comfortable doing your own wiring you will spend countless hours trying to replicate a harness even if you are given the parts and a guide. Add on top of that the trying to troubleshoot any problems that may occur if you mess any of the wiring up. In hindsight after the build if unsuccessful, you would send the harness attempt in to be fix/finished. There are so many intricate details and tricks that go into building a great quality harness. You wouldn't have this experience to draw on if trying to diy a harness. It's just easier to buy a finished one.
I'm not trying to rant, I would of loved a diy harness when I was doing my own but it's not available. Also now that I have been working for Brian and I've helped build so many of the 818 harness. I feel confident in saying that it's really worth every penny. It's not something that you can just throw together and get right the first time. With the 2k harness your not only buying a completely built harness to your spec your also buying the experience/tech support that comes with these types of things. When a harness leaves iWire, your wiring will be the last thing on your list of possible areas to ever trouble shoot. Your car will simply run if you have everything mechanical working the first time you try. We really make something that is a huge daunting task and turn in into a plug and play mechanical job.

I agree with this 100%, but there is a difference in mechanical DIY and electrical DIY. Wouldn't you agree that a majority of people who decided to build this car were interested the mechanical aspects of the build, not the nuisances of modern electrical systems? This is why at the heart of we do, we wan't to turn that electrical process into a mechanical one. Like Robert (Fireblade) mentioned, there is so much going on behind the scenes that comes with experience and knowledge. A DIY kit is just not going to be able to translate all of that, so when someone without an electrical background goes to build it the end result is just not going to replicate what we create here.
To Robert's point about tech support. This comes as a bonus to purchasing a harness from us. We will help as much as we possibly can and our customers can vouch for that. We would not be able to provide that support to the DIY customers because it would just be too daunting and not being a helpful resource to someone who has purchased from us not something we would feel right about doing.

Honestly, a guide that says which wires need to go where would be extremely helpful. I know you put something together for this Mechie. A more useful thing is distances/lengths which could be labeled on an overview photo.
A lot of people could probably follow a DIY kit if you just take a high resolution photo of your layout, then label each connector (ie, A, B, C, etc.) then have a photo of each connector with wires spread out and mark each wire (ie, A1,A2,A31, etc.) then say A31 connects to B11, A2 connects to C3/B4/andE5, etc.

I have to agree with Brian 100%. I'm a DIY type, but throw in the towel when it comes to electrical. There is no benefit for him to offer a DIY kit for $900-$1200. You are not only buying wire and plugs, you are buying his expertise and knowledge. If you think that is too much $ for a "Full Service" harness, then you can have fun doing it yourself. If anyone thinks that if Brian is doing a disservice not offering a lower price point DIY wiring harness, you should direct your frustration towards FFR if you feel you need to. It is their kit they sold you after all. I can only imagine what headaches would come from the constant phone calls or questions. It's not worth it at this point for him. He is booked for months with "Full Service" harnesses.
Brian saw an opportunity to create a plug and play wiring harness for the 818. I'm sure glad he did, otherwise I probably would have been still tangled up in wire in the garage after 100+ hours of frustration. Yes, the harness is expensive, but worth every penny.

I completely agree that out is worth every penny for those that are not electrical diy types. An expensive paint job for the 818 is also worth every penny for someone who doesn't know how to paint a car...but there are electrical DIY types that are getting ignored. This project has many steps, some I can handle others I can't. I was hoping to pay for some of those measurements and directions that iwire has already obtained so that I may spend more money on something I am less familiar with, painting. It is fairly obvious the philosophy in here and it is probably better not to offer a DIY given the defensible reaction from people who have already spent the $2k+.

Let's keep it civil here please.
It sounds like you have an electrical background which means this is something that is easier for you, that's awesome, but the problem from a business stand point with a DIY kit is that not everyone will. If so, how do we as a business deal with that? Most people will go for the cheaper option even if they may not have the technical knowledge to do it. Maybe part of the problem here is looking at what we provide as a service when it's really a product that has built in intellectual property. We spent a lot of time in figuring out how to do it, and are continuously improving on it. We would be giving away all of that with a DIY kit.
I have a question as far as the SBF (slow blow fuse) if they are being eliminated or if there are mini blade versions. I have not been able to find mini blade versions myself so I haven't been able to see how to implement and SBF into the cooper bussman fuse/relay holders. What's the solution?
Simple answer is that you will not need the SBFs due to having a simplified harness. Subaru uses them to protect the alternator/battery for bigger loads (you'll see that are from 30-50 amp) that spike temporarily (initial start of the window motor). Since you'll be splitting up the systems, most of your fuses won't need to exceed 30 amps and should be relatively stable with load. If you find that something does exceed it, like the power windows, you'll use a circuit breaker or something similar that can handle it.

AMEN, mine is absolutely lovely and is so clean. The rats nest is gone! My harness issues made me think the car would be unreliable. Brian's is production worthy. AND Brian is a joy to deal with is you have questions too!

I finished most of the engine side for yours last week. It was a bit of a challenge to get everything routed to match your previous routing but it came out great. No where nearly as difficult as David's C. from Australia and his came out great.

Inherent to our engineering background... I had an old boss that said I had to be moved around on new projects so often because if he didn't I'd break something so I could fix it!
Brian was amazingly responsive and helpful with my running issues, my eventual fuel starvation issues timing coincided with getting the new harness. If I started with Brian's harness I would have totally removed the center console tubing since it isn'rt structural and would have had more room for seats.

Thanks guys! Spent all day on the phone yesterday since apparently a lot of people had Columbus Day off. Haha As a result I'm finishing your harness right now (instead of yesterday). Just need to bench test and wrap it up tomorrow so it can be in the box by tomorrow afternoon.

sorry to bother you but i am in a twitter with my 818 problem
i made the mistake of buying a vcp harness and I believe he wired the harness for a 2.5 turbo out of a 2002 impreza
I have a 2002 2.5 ej25 non turbo engine the ecu is not right related to the iac valve mine has 6 wires and the turbo version only has 3
is there a fix you would recommend? I did a continuity test and show 1 red wire coming from the ecu (tech s) to the iac valve

Sorry about the delay on the response. It didn't pop in my notifications for some reason. I'm sure Wayne can help you out (he has an outstanding reputation) so I would go back to him. To answer your question, there are serious differences between the turbo and non turbo harnesses and ECUs. If that is the case it would probably need to be redone with the non turbo harness and ECU.
Just finished up Mechie3/Zero Decibel Motorsports harness and it turned out great! :D

Outstanding choice on the halloween outfit!
Dropped the harness in on Sunday and powered up the car for the first time. Have to say, 1 day to make sure I labelled everything and knew what was what and 1 day to hook it up, zip tie it in place and turn it on. Very happy with the results. Now if I can finish a list of odds and ends we'll try to start the sucker soon.
Thanks

We can address it, sure. Might be modifying what Ford already makes to work with our body harness. I'll be at SEMA this week so hopefully I can get some details from FF about it.

Just a quick update that we will be adding a 3rd fusebox to all coupe builds (unless otherwise requested) to allow for accessory power in order to run all of the creature comforts that will become available with the hardtop. With this change will be a pricing update. More details to come soon.
Even with the added fuse box, the complete harness with all modules, fuses, circuit breaker, battery/alt cables, etc still comes in at 26lbs.

First Coupe build out the door. Not too much different other than a whole bunch of plugs for all of the accent lights, which by the way, are purely that. Don't expect them to run as a DRL. For now we have to plug each light separately so that each LED can get into the housing first, lock down, then get a plug on top. Once the headlight buckets show up, we can build a simplified version that runs all of the accent lights and turn signal into a single plugs like the older front end.

Coupe harness with 3RD accessory fusebox.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d123/keenerrs/610.5_zps43adoffs.jpg
And some fun news. We will be starting 2016 with harness v4.0 that will be a complete update from headlights to taillights to tighten things up, rethink others, and update the manual with new install pictures and precise mounting instructions. We'll also be including mounting hardware. The pricing structure will get updated and I think you guys will be pretty happy with it. Keep an eye out for a new thread in this sub forum that will be asking for feedback as we go along.
Thanks for Flynntuna (George) for being gracious enough to allow us to use his chassis for the revisions.

Easy answer for guys who are modular, but if you are pre-modular then it's a bit tougher. For modular we'll ship you a new front harness (approx $400) that has the necessary plugs and updates to get the headlights working properly. The trick on this is that the high beam is just a shutter so the low beams need to stay on with high beams unlike the older style where they flip flop. It just means 2 extra relays mounted to the front to get this to happen.
For the non modular guys, I'll have to come with a small DIY package with a jumper of some sort and instructions to adapt the front end. It won't be as pretty as just replacing that section, but it'll get the job done.

Sneak peak of what we'll be including with the new harness. It will also be available for sale individually. This is a prototype but the end product will be pretty slick.
