818 Color Guide and Examples

Factory Five has the great app now on the website for picking colors on the Roadster, plus the "original" forum obviously has tons of photos for people to reference. With the 818, however, we don't have those resources centralized yet as far as I can tell.

Edit: R.Spec came to the rescue in post 44 and filled in a lot of the blanks with a series of photoshops. Here are the links:

I previously tried to contact them with no response. If someone can get a hold of them, and maybe even get the site back online, that would be awesome.

I've been more a fan of a candy red or bright blue, with an eye lately for the two orange cars out there. The 818 wears orange very well.

I like the 818 in Orange, but my current 2-seater, a Nissan Z, is 'Le Mans Sunset', and I want a change; two orange cars in a row is a bit much. I actually like the Yellow, but my Suzuki was Yellow, and after my 4 fractured vertebrae get-off that put me on disability for 3 months and forced our wedding to be delayed, the wife veto'd yellow... bad association!

The candy apple red paint job on that 818S is a coat of silver followed by 4 coats of candy red, costs $12k. But I know what you mean, I would also love to do that sort of paint job. Or do black or charcoal... Did I mention I'm partial to the M3 leguna seca blue

I've attached my main sources of inspiration for paint though I'm not totally decided. I like the idea of a smoky grey base with non-standard gold-ish/orange striping. I like the Audi's off-center stripe as well as the flowing Martini stripes. The Koenigsegg is just pure sex and I love the idea of just a few stripes having a more interesting effect than the usual "length of the car" stuff.

I agree, I've been looking at different, somewhat lighter blues and right now my favorites are Apex Blue Pearl (the Honda color I think you're talking about), and Jazz Blue (a vw color) 2953229533

Also that blue is insanely hard to match. It's a weird tone to it that doesn't have a super gloss finish. It's a really solid color. Hard to do.

Playing around with R.Spec's "photo shopped" color scheme... I came across this color... close to the WRX STi look that I would like to go with... It's '15 Corvette Laguna Blue. Just can't seem to lighten up the wheels to a gunmetal color....
