In order to save a little money and do the build the way I really want to do I purchased a unfinished/unassembled MK2 back in September. I finally received the car in December, right before christmas. It was a heck of a x-mas present to myself. My plan for this build is to make it the way I want it and allow myself the options to upgrade in the future. I have been researching Factory Five for a number of years. I am a huge car guy and my current stable includes a 65 mustang, 69 MGB GT, and a 80 Corvette.

Here is my build plan:

Dark metallic blue from a 2005 Ford GT. White stripes with a blue pearl.

17 Wheels and tires- 5 lug using fox front brakes and sn 95 rears.

331 stroker engine- mas flow fuel injection

5 speed TKO 500

Original style low back seats

Original style gauges

Tons up small upgrades and custom touches along the way.

So far here is my progress: I am sanding/priming/water sanding/ painting/ clearing/ cutting and buffing most of the aluminum panels prior to installation on the car. This has taken most of my build time up to this point. I have the also painted and cleared most of the chassis. The front suspension and rear suspension is also painted and cleared. So far I have mocked up the front suspension and I am getting ready to rebuild the rear end.

Here are some pics
Delivery!!! It was so nice to finally have in the garage!

Here is the front suspension mocked up. I choose to use fox style brakes with SVO 73MM calipers and hawk pads. I went this route to have good brake balance with 11 inch brakes front and rear.

Cameron, WOW your car is a inspiration to the level of detail I hope to achieve. I can't believe how good your chassis looks and I love the stripes on the underside of the hood and trunk. Nice looking car!!!!

Greg, the blue frame and silver rivets look really sharp. Having seen your chassis, I know it looks even better in person.

I think we all wish we could borrow your rotisserie for our builds!

Here are some updated pics. I have the four link rear end in place and the floor boards in place.

Working on the gas tank and hopefully in the next week or two I will have my fuel lines and brake lines in place.

Coming along nicely!
Love that chassis rotisserie by the way. Gotta make life so much easier to have the chassis up at that height and easy access to the underside of the frame. Is the rig homemade from a couple of modified engine stands?

Car is still coming along nicely.

A month ago I got my dream engine 331 stoker with forge internals, AFR 185 heads, 1.6 roller rockers the works. I had to sell my corvette to buy the engine but it was worth it.

A few pics:

I also got my TKO 600.

After double checking and triple checking all the suspension bolt torque settings and competing my brakes lines and fabbing up my fuel lines we decided to put the chassis on the ground. It was a fun time, my buddy's 17 year old daughter ran the fork lift and did a great job.

Here are a few pics of the underside of the chassis. Had to take the pics not since no one will ever see it once its complete.

As a personel note these are not the wheels I am using for my final build. I had a extra set of mustang wheels laying around so these are just temporary. I am going to use the FFR 17 halibrand wheels for my final build.

Nice build. You may want to check that oil pan.....maybe its the angle but I think it will hang below the 4" rails.....not an ideal situation. Keep up the good work, just remember to enjoy the journey as well as the destination.

Looks great but sorry to say that you are going to have to change that pan. I am also building a MKII right now and I had to swap out my pan for the road racing one, if you don't you will bust up your pan.

Ya I realized as soon as I got the car on the ground that the Oil Pan was to low and will have to be changed out.
