I am considering using the new E stopp and want to run the cables under the tank forward into the tunnel
I don't have a gas tank yet due to back orders or production problems and I don't know how much room there is if I try to raise it. Anyone know?

thanks

So am I. Please post what you find out. The cables only need a 1/2" to pass.

I haven't finished wiring yet, but should be doable. A few mods to accommodate. Firewall, fill hose, support the tank. I think you'll need more than 1/2" due to the tank sitting in a tray surrounded by 1-1/2" square tubing. It might be easier to mod the tank. If you're tall, it will cramp the seating a bit to raise it 2" to clear the tubing.

Another avenue would be to pass the cables below the floor and put a skid plate on to protect them.

Keep in mind, where you rivet or screw the lower aluminum to the upper firewall falls about an inch above the current location of the gas tank. If you raise the tank you might run into interference from the fasteners and god forbid you drill the holes forgetting what is behind it once the tank is raised.

Jonathan Mill here! Developer of the E-Stopp.

With encased cables you should be able to reroute around the gas tank and still be able to use the system. As long as there aren't too many tight turns in the cables, there shouldn't be any interference. If there are any specific questions I can help with please let me know. I appreciate your support of my product!

Do you just need the room for the current parking cables? I want to use the E-Stopp too.

i want to clean up the console in the interior this is the reason why i am concerned about the suby cable ends
they are not threaded for nuts like the cables on the vidoe any suggestions for this application?
thanks

Hi Jonathan, and welcome!

I am considering the E-Stopp and have 2 questions:
1. What happens if battery current is lost when the brake is active? I would assume it does not release, but want to verify.
2. Assuming it does not release when battery current is lost, how do you release the brake with no battery?

Thank you in advance! :)

We have had people mount our actuator in many different places (frame rail, trunk, under the seat in the cab, etc). That is what you need the room for. You can run the cables to wherever it is mounted.

Hmm, what kind of ends are on there? Lokar has a pretty cool little set screw bracket that comes with the universal cable kit. You just put the cables in and use set screws to clamp them down.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

1) Correct. It remains locked.
2) It will remain locked until you bring power back to it or unscrew the nut that holds the cable. We didn't put an easy release because so many people use the E-Stopp as an anti-theft feature.

Understood. There's only 1 scenario I can think of where it would be an issue: When you have a dead battery and want to push start the car. Not a very likely scenario, for sure, and could potentially be easily solved by a 12v lantern battery (if that has enough juice to power the E-Stopp at least once).

can I ask why you just don't mount the Estopp actuator next to the transmission

I want to install this also. Good question about the cable ends.

This is what the end of the brake cables look like:

But they snap into the e-brake handle assembly and it has a "T" and a single cable that does have a threaded end. I'm sure it can be freed from the e-brake handle assembly.

How exactly are the cables secured in the e-stopp unit?

After seeing the video, I might suggest not raising the tank, but rather seeing where the actuator fits. Perhaps there will be room behind the firewall? I have some serious reservations about using this as an emergency brake above 25 mph, especially in Pittsburgh where I grew up where the roads aren't just steep but make sharp turns with street parking to boot. For such use, I would like to see a variable control rather than just ON or OFF. I really like the concept, and I'm not knocking it, it needs a finessible controller for hydraulic failure. If that is developed before I get to that spot if my build, I will seriously consider it.
