I'm rethinking my tires and am leaning towards the 15" rims.

The only ones I've seen up close are racing tires.

Does anyone have and suggestions for make and size?

Thanks

I have 245/60-15 in front and 295/50-15 at the rear. Next tires will be 235/60-15 in front, same at the rear.

Avon makes a really nice radial that has a cool, vintage bias-ply look to the tread - it's called the CR6ZZ.

If you are talking tires, you are pretty much limited to BFG TA Radials, Cooper Cobra, or the very pricey Avons from what I understand. While I have no real experience or expertise with different tires, it seems from threads I've read that if you race or A-cross, you should stay away from the first two choices (some call them "hockey pucks").

Having said that, I had 15" BFG TA's on my MK II for 9 years and 12,000+ miles with absolutely no issues; and I'm going the same way (15" BFG TAs) on the MK IV I'm currently building.

Cheers, Dale

Here's a Mk4 I built a couple of years ago with 15s:

FFR Halibrand replica wheels, 8" front and 9" rear. Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires, 235/60-15 front and 295/50-15 in the rear. The owner uses it as a street cruiser/touring car and is quite happy with the Coopers for his purposes.
