Hey friends,

Big day yesterday. My GTM took its first breath and purred like a kitten. The crate LS3 fired up immediately, and settled into a very nice 700 rpm idle. I had a few very minor fuel leaks that were fixed in about 2 minutes - really need to remember to tighten down those AN fittings! No engine codes were thrown so it all looks good. No coolant leaks either. Thanks to Ron (Presto51) for his help!

This GTM is using Crash's heater bypass valve, I added a Canton tank, and the lovely sound you can hear in the video is Shane's Kooks exhaust.

The tachometer and oil pressure gauge are functioning correctly, though something's not quite right with my coolant temp gauge. I've got two senders in the heads, one for the ECU (reads correctly), and one for the gauge. Both senders measure the same resistance at the same temperature (both work correctly), but my gauge reads about 60 degrees low. Figured I'd call FFR about it tomorrow.

Here's some videos of the first start:

Very nice.

The first start is one of those things that just can't be described to those that haven't built a car on their own before. ;)

Sweet Michael! First attempt and it started right up.

That Kooks exhaust system sounds awesome!

Congratulations.

Love it Michael.

Sounds wonderful. Nothing like delivering the first start on camera under pressure. Great job.

Congratulations.

Michael,
Congratulations...Sounds great.
I also have a crate LS3 in my GTM and wondered if you had any issues wiring it up to the painless harness. I'm working on the wiring now and are at the point of starting to wire the LS3. I'm waiting for my new Mendeola transaxle so I also can get the excitment of the FIRST START.

SRESSUE,

I purchased my engine harness and computer from Shaun at SMC Performance. The harness was already configured to fit the LS3 in the GTM perfectly, and has it's own 4-fuse panel that I mounted adjacent to the Painless chassis fuse panel. They are really completely independent systems, with the exception of the starter wire. It was really straight forward. Also, I didn't go with the E-rod package, just the crate LS3 - don't know if that will make a difference.
