Thought I would share this with you guys, since no body else would be remotely interested.
I have been struggling with whether my donor was a good investment, since, in spite of being a low-mileage car, there was a pretty good bit of corrosion and rust to deal with. This prompted me to buy many new pieces when the donor ones should have sufficed. And I decided on a Cosworth short block, etc. This led me to self-doubt regarding whether the donor was going to pay for itself. I was just finishing adding things up when Sam from Andrewtech called to give me a report on my '06 donor transmission they were rebuilding for me. When they broke the case open, they discovered that the tranny already had a perfect PPG gear set in it. So, add $4500 to the asset side of the column.
Turns out that the donor paid for itself even without that boost.
