Fitting Sidepipes

After sliding side pipes over the headers, they are still too long to fit into the body coves. Since the side pipes can only go so far over the header pipes due to the internal sleeves, it would seem to me that the only alternative is to shorten the header pipes by cutting 1.5 inches or so off the ends. Any thoughts before I get out the cutting wheel?

Yep, I had to cut mine to get the pipes to tuck in correctly. Take baby steps as there is no going back.
