I'm looking at a 2009 WRX Sti as a potential source for just the motor + ECU and gearbox (6 speed)
It has only 60,000 km's
All the suspension, steering and hubs etc would remain 2006 WRX
There are a number of threads on fitting the 6 speed, are there major challenges with fitting later model engines?
Custom axles required ?
Cheers Tim

It will work fine, the inner CV part that goes in the trans is the same. You may have to put WRX mounts on the engine.

If you want the speedo to work, you'll need to figure something out. 2007 and older uses a gear driven sensor mounted to the transmission. 2008+ uses a signal from the abs/wheel speed sensor.

If the ABS tone rings are the same in the older and newer versions, wiring the ABS wheel sensors wouldn't be hard at all.
