View Full Version : Does anyone know what this is (and if it's needed)?

Can anyone tell me what this is? It looks like some sort of sensor potted in a housing with HV leads:

I bought Jeff Awendar's donor, so I didn't do all the tear-down. It was in the box with my harness, which I have yet to tackle.
Thanks,
Lee

That is the daytime running light resistor.

So, I assume it's function in the Subbie is to provide a voltage drop for the high beams filaments for DRL usage? I guess I could use it if I wanted. Ommitting it would just get rid of the DRLs, right?

It uses the low beams for DRL. Correct on everything else.

Thanks again.
P.S. The engineer in me appreciates the simplicity of the solution but is horrified by the inefficiency.
