One of my Cat Converters gets really hot (sizzling hot actually) whilst the other you could touch with your hand. And this is just after idling for a minute or so. Ive extended my O2 sensors and checked for continuity and mantenance of ohms all ok.
Anyone offer some ideas?
Thanks
Chris

Cats tend to run pretty darn hot, but odd that the cat would get hot that fast..
It sounds like it's running rich on that side for some reason, or could the cat be burnt out already? Timing and firing order correct? Any other symptoms of poor running?

Thanks Again AC Bill for the feedback. The cats are brand new from FFR so I hope they arent burnt out. Im using a Ford Racing Control Pack so I honestly dont know about timing & firing but it seems to run smooth and spins up to 6k without even blinking. In fact I dont have the mounts bolted down and it hardly moves under revs.
The hot side of the engine does appear to blow a small amount of smoke so I think you may be correct on runing rich. Is this something I would have to have recalibrated by Ford Racing?
Thanks Again Bill
Cheers

Frankly I expected you would have rec'd more response's to your query by this point.
I unfortunately have no experience, and very little knowledge of the 5.4 engine you are running. Perhaps this is also the reason others haven't responded..
If you don't get some feedback soon you may want to try asking on a Mustang owners forum.

Good luck!

Are all the injectors wired correctly? Do you have the O2 connectors reversed?
