Has anyone done a forward braced roll bar? I love the look but wonder if it restricts the driver too much (and the passenger).
Anything can be fabricated but just wondered if anyone has successfully done it.
Thanks

Actually, FFR built one back in '98 or so when Dave Smith flipped the car during the Run-n-Gun. Not sure if that episode is still on the FFR video - it was on the old one, though. The roll hoop had the familiar vertical hoop, but was forward braced on two sides, with the outer side coming down through the edge of the door like a Challenge car. When I picked my kit up all those years ago, Dave offered to fab-up one for me. Not sure if you could convince them to do a forward braced one for you know, but I think if I were to go that route, I'd look up Mark Reynolds and buy one of his stainless bars. That version more closely approximates the height and lay-back angle of the original cars and the reward downward leg isn't welded. It would be easy for you to source the right sized tubing locally and simply make the floor brace and then weld the tube to the hoop at the top going forward.

I have one on mine. But I'm converting it to a 289 FIA

Thanks Gumball.
2FAST - do you have some pics? I like the single forward brace that heads towards the tunnel at an angle.

Thanks G-Pete. That's exactly this idea! Do you know if it restricts driver or passenger?

Plenty room for the driver, may you want some padding for the passenger on the legs. Matter of fact the passenger has something to hold on.....
