So I have use of a Yukon XK and a flatbed car hauler. I am assuming some ratchet straps? Anything else to make a safe delivery?
Might seem a crazy question but I don't want to get to the border and not have everything!

Thanks,
Ian

I made a wooden cradle- looked somewhat like a frame of a pallet - to support the main chassis rails... they're 24" o.c. Either with or without such a thing, you should bring four old tires (without wheels) to set the chassis/body on. I also used one of those "car jacket" covers to completely enclose it on my open trailer due to weather concerns during my trip.

Here's a pic of us leaving FFR:

This worked for me.

Keep in mind that the body wraps around under the frame at the sides. So you need something to set the frame on like Luv2fly's 4x4s. Other wise that fiberglass would be getting chewed up all the way home.

As others have stated, definitely need something to rest the frame on. I drove my Mk4 home to MI from the east coast in a covered trailer (Serpent Express) and was fortunate enough to have a chassis cradle that had been paid forward from several other builds. Then just strapped it to the tie-downs using regular straps like it was on wheels. We were able to easily fit all the rest of the parts/boxes in the cockpit and the back of our Dodge Durango SUV. Because it was a covered trailer, never thought or tried to wrap it up. Several years ago we towed my partially built and unpainted Mk3 to MI from Toledo on a U-Haul car hauler. The weather was threatening, so I tried to wrap the thing with a tarp and tied it up like crazy. The tarp was flapping all over the place in short order. Took it all off, and it got a little wet. But it dried and didn't hurt a thing. I know it's your new baby (been there...) but the chassis and body as delivered from the factory can stand the weather on an open trailer with no problem. Just get it tied down safely.

You can stop here in Jersey Shore, PA, just off I-80 and pick up my chassis buck/cradle free of charge.

Thanks everyone. So the minimum I would need by the sounds of it is some 4x4 and ratchet straps. I like the idea of a car jacket, but may have to do with a tarp!

I used wreck wrap to tow it back to Cincinnati.
