View Full Version : Coyote Not Running Right - Follow Up

I contacted JMS Chips & Performance about a new tune for my Coyote. I provided them with a couple of dimensions - the inside diameter of the air intake, and the distance from the back cylinder to the oxygen sensor, and they shipped me an SCT tuner loaded with three custom programs for my setup. The 3 setups are "safe", "moderate power", and "maximum power". I loaded the "moderate" tune, and am very pleased with the result. The stall-when-idling problem is gone, and the engine runs much better, including in the 2,000 -3,000 rpm range where I was having problems.
I suspect anybody installing a Coyote will need a custom tune like this to accommodate the variations from stock in the position of the oxygen sensor and the air intake diameter. The whole setup was $379 including the hardware ($175 if you've got your own SCT tuner), and I think this was money well spent!

Remind me, do you also have the Speed Dial installed? Can't remember...
Thanks
Kevin

David, stalling issue is resolved and it "runs better". Sounds like you feel that its not quite right yet (no enthusiasm in your post). Or am I reading it wrong? A few of us are approaching the same issue and are very interested.

No speed dial - just the new tune from JMS.
Still some roughness between 1,000 - 2,000 rpm. At 2,200 it just sings. Maybe some of this is due to the exhaust setup I have -- under car, over rear axle and out below bumper. Small muffler under seats too. Stainless Headers did the hardware and the exhaust system. A bit of fiddling required to make everything right but I like the look and the sound is behind me. Plus, no hot pipes to worry about.
