Well, after a long cold winter here in North Carolina, the weather finally broke to get the build started. Phased 1 of the kit showed up in October and the boxes were inventoried and stacked up out of the way. The parts that seemed as thought hey should be powder coated were sent to out to get completed. The guy doing the powder coating, Tom, has done parts for a few Cobra kits in the area. He laughed and said I'd be back with other parts over the build. He was right!!

That is a great picture. I don't know if that is your son but what a great way to connect with someone. My son is helping me with my build, so is my grandson as much as a 5 year old can. Something about building a car... Have fun and good luck!

Yep. That is my son. I originally wanted to build a Cobra but he talked me out of it. He is having fun thinking about what color the car will be and is learning lots about cars. We plan lots of good father and son time together with this. It will take a long time as I am trying to make it fun and not a task.
Planning a Chevy 350 around 335 HP, 700-R4 and the Moser Ford rear end. Power steering and power brakes.

I showed my wife the picture and said "Look how happy they are. The boy and I will have a great bonding experience."
My wife's response. "Yeah, they seem quite content with just the frame there. Don't see any reason to get to the parts where all the cussing is going to start."
I've still got some work to do on my wife.

Congrats on starting your build! We are doing very much the same as you. My 8 year old son and I started building #600 in October and it has been a great experience for both of us. My wife and even my 5 year old daughter have even helped along the way. I am also going the Chevy route with 350/700r4 combo. Good luck on the build!

Enjoy the build, hopefully your son can take the experience on to the next generation of builders.
