I have a brand new painted sti coolant crossover pipe that does not work in my forester. Looking to trade or purchase a FXT one. Since the 818 is designed around the wrx, the sti/wrx one will work better for those that purchased a fxt donor.

I understand the my 04 2.5L FXT engine is the same as sti engine except for the turbo size. Why would the coolant crossover pipe be different?

there's a lot more than just the turbo and coolant crossover that are different between the ej255 (fxt), ej255 (wrx) and ej257's. just not any that really make a difference. For instance the factory ej255 that I got had the lower compression heads than most of the other fxt's.

What is the specific reason your crossover pipe isn't working, though?

Only difference I've ever seen in crossover pipes ( and I'm not sure of these) was the heater tube exits and the coolant temp sensor. Both of which are easily over come since your probrably not gonna have heat. And the wires would just be lengthened if the sensors in the rear and the sensor on the crossover your using is on the front side

I need this tube for my forester, not an 818, so i definatly want heat . The foresters front end is shorter and the radiator is right up aginst the engine, so the coolant manifold ( top coolant hose location) is angled about 45 degres to the right where the sti/wrx one exits straight out toward the front. Ther is less room than an inch between the coolant manifold exit and radiator fan.

I see what your saying on my forester crossover pipe.

On the 818 that is the direction the radiator hose needs to go. There is only a couple of inches between firewall and engine on the 818 so it is tight there also.
I plan on heat also in the 818. I see this forester crossover pipe as an advantage for the 818 also.

Sounds like the forester crossover pipe would be desirable in an 818. Wish I would have known about it before I got my engine in.

I just gave a 07 Wrx crossover tube to a guy for his forester and they where the same. I'll look and see if I have anothe laying around

The one i have that doesn't work is from an 05 sti, wrx could work just not sure sine there are minor changes between all of their radiators, I appreciate you looking.

finding a freeze plug that fits the top crankcase vent, snug fit with loctite should hold. Then I will use the N/A forester coolant manifold.

Ill post pics since the forester one might be better for the 818 and the FXT ones are impossible to find.
