I was looking at Tim Pott's tail light config and I like it. He uses a trailer convertor to do this so I picked one up yesterday.
Here's a diagram of how I think it should go together but just doing a gut check before splicing and dicing. Does this make sense?

Updated with all 4 tail lights shown.

John, here is how I did mine. I used the powered converter...lights are real bright. Don't give up on this modification...it is much better than what FFR provides.

Chris,
Funny as I read this I'm on hold with the parts store to order this part!

Chris,
I wired up the part and I'm getting all 4 tail lights, 4 stop lights but it does not switch to turns when needed. When I don't use the converter the turn signal works.
I know you changed your flasher too. Was that just because you changed over to LED's or did you have to do that regardsless?
What part number for the flasher and the light bulbs?
thanks,
John

The converter creates little or no draw and the dinky front blinkers aren't much better so they don't create enough draw to make the "thermal" flasher "blink". I switched both flashers (blinkers & hazard) to electronic LittleFuse FLR232 2P 12V flasher. About $10 each.
