My coupe arrived, parts inventoried, and my build has started. I have several simple questions I am hoping someone can help with.

1) Before I torque my spindles I want to make sure I have the steering arms on correctly. The manual says the taper should be on the bottom, however it looks to me like the taper either goes inside or outside. Looking at the post that Carbon12 posted with pics, it looks like his point out which is how I mounted mine. Is that correct?

2) The bolts for the lower control arms arrived in the mail before I got my kit as they were backordered. They came with no part number so I had to guess what they were for. The bag had four spacers in it. Are these needed for the lower control arms? I assume that the welded brackets might be spaced for the Mustang donor and the LCA's that come with the kit are slightly more narrow? Or do you not need those spacers at all? The manual/guidebook says nothing and has not pics for references.

First of all, welcome. Enjoy the build. :)

I'm not picturing your first question. It might help if you add the link to carbon12's post. When you ask certain questions you may find it easier to describe the problem and get replies if you post a picture. We like pictures :)

For your second question. I don't know what bolts FFR sent you but mine (2009) were too short so I ordered the correct longer bolts from Breeze. I also ordered longer metal sleeves for the bushings in order to reduce the risk of binding. The ears should clamp down on the sleeves and allow the bushings free movement. You are correct in that the spacers may be needed unless the Gen II is different. If I recall correctly there are no spacers on the front arm of the LCA and I used one spacer on the rear arm. Make sure there is no bind to the arm when torqued down. It should be pretty easy to move up and down. I greased things up from the start.

Things are coming back to me...hopefully correctly. When you add the spacers, the sleeve should be against the spacer and not through the hole like a washer.

1) The steering arms mount to the spindles with them angling outward slightly. The vertical hole that the tie rod end inserts into is tapered; the wider diameter should be at the bottom.

2) You are correct that the frame tabs are spaced to accommodate Mustang lower arms, I assume the "spacers" you're asking are the large diameter thick shim washers. Those get used between the LCA and rear set of frame tabs. The front leg does not get any shims.

Cheers,
Jeff
