Welcome to the forum. You'll always find someone willing to help you (spend your money ;-). Unless you're looking at doing some hardcore drag racing, I'd go w/the IRS.

For what it's worth I had the same question before I ordered my kit. I was fortunate enough to be able to go for a ride in a Moser rearended MK4 just before I ordered my kit (about an hour before) and it felt great and the car did everything the driver asked.

The guy driving me around has quite a bit experience driving the cars and he gave it a bit of a workout to show me what it was capable of. If the Moser rearend was good enough for him in HIS car its good enough for me!

Oh, by the way, the "guy" was Dave Smith. Thanks Dave for taking the time with me and the very exciting ride! I'm loving the build process and i look forward to hitting the road!

I'v built and driven both solid axle and IRS. The IRS is a little bit more expensive, but not tremendously so. It is also a little bit more technical to install and adjust.

But, of all the facotry offerings, the IRS is clearly the better choice. The ride and handeling is so much better, it's like a completly differant car. Bumps in my neighborhoos that used to rattle my teeth, now I hardley feel them. Back roads through the Rockies often have one side of the lane smooth, and the other side is filled with potholes, freeze bumps, and patches. My solid axle car would be bouncing all over the place. The IRS car just crfuise right through them without any trouble. It is smoother and handles better than my '08 Mustang.

IMO, it's by far the best all around rear suspension choice, bar none. I would never build another street cobra with a solid axle.

Now, for track use only, there are better choices.

But, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Mike Forte has a few new rear ends left. Anybody got a link to the Moser rear end?

That makes me very happy Rob, seeing as though the 15 year comes with the Moser rear end. Thanks for putting me at ease.

+1 for IRS, but either will be loads of fun.

if I go with the FFr IRS which is $2200 that will need a center section and spindles. does FFR offer a complete IRS package. Where can I get the other parts if they do't...center section and spindles?....moser center section is $1000 (?) which doesn't make sense.
BTW I am looking at a crate 351 cobra with TKO500 tranny from Engine Factory.

Here is a pic of the Mosler rear that came with my brother's 15the anniversay car. I believe the only difference between it and a "standard" one is the powdercoating:

Notice the third mamber, which is welded to the axle housing. If you go with a standard 3 link, you will have to do this as a separate step. IMO the Mosler rear is a great way to go if you decide to go for 3 link.

MY car has IRS. LOVE it. I can't wait to see how is Mosler rides though.

Oh, and re: Engine Factory. IMHO Over the years I've heard those who love 'em, and a few horror stories too. If it was me I'd look at a FMS crate or an engine from Fortes or VCP.

The Mosler set-up is without a doubt top notch, for a 3 link. IF I were to choose a 3-link, that's what I'd use. Having said that, I choose the IRS for comfort and handling. If your main use of the car is street or road course, go IRS. If your drag racing definitely go with the 3 link. My .02 Cents.
