I was looking at different setups on the original six and I noticed that CSX2299 has 2 H pipes on either side of the block, about 12 inches from the exhaust manifold per two pipes. Now I'm not sure if this was in the original setup or done for noise restrictions at the 2004 Lemans Classic race which is where the image was taken. Any thoughts on why the H is so close to the manifold? I always thought the H had to be at a certain distance down the line but before the mufflers.

As far as I know, those are not "H" pipes, but reinforcement tubes to prevent the long tubes from vibrating and cracking due to their length.

Thanks Hank. That was my first thought but I realized that they used the same diameter tubing to tie them together. Just seemed weird to use that when there wouldn't be that much vibration at that point. I would of secured them further away but what do I know!!! :)
