Just wondering where you put your return hose for the heater / defroster. Lower radiator hose? If so do you have a part #? I also have quite a turn to be made because the feed is under the alternator. Possibly a 90 similar to the one from the pump to the intake manifold?? I'm running the 302 block.

This may help:
Edit: Sorry, it won't post. Just Google: Ford 302 Heater hose routing.

Here's a link to heater hose routing. I used a Breeze kit to move the alternator to the drivers side. http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/387290-another-heater-hose-thread.html

Here it is on my '94 302 block - now an old-school 347.

You have it backwards. The heater inlet is supposed to come from the intake manifold NOT the water pump. The water pump is the heater return line. If you use Chris's photo above as an example the upper hose going to the intake is the heater inlet and the hose resting on top of the alternator is the heater return to the water pump.

Okay, so now I have the sending unit in one side, and the fan switch in the other side on the intake manifold. There isn't a port on the thermostat housing. Guess I could drill and tap it.

Or you could put one of the sending units in the top of the heater hose elbow on the intake. That's what I did with ours. The Auto Meter sender is small and uses like an 1/8-inch NPT hole. Simply drill and tap the flat top of the heater fitting.
Alternatively you could put the fan switch in the thermostat housing (my daily driver Fox Mustang is like that) since you wouldn't need the fan on until the thermostat opens anyway.

I used a 45° into the water pump (from the heater) to clear the top mounted alternator. Using the stock 5.0 litre thermostat housing, drilled and tapped the top of it for the fan switch.

Would you have a part # for the 45? I attached a picture to clarify. 26270

I am using an Edelbrock water pump which have threaded inlet/outlet...able to use a Weatherhead 45° street elbow + hose barb. I would check with your local parts supply and check for Weatherhead fitting assortments OR Home Depot, pex or pre-soldered elbows might do the trick.

Thanks to all for the help. Enjoyed looking at the rest of your pictures Chris. Thanks for supply/return clarification Mark. I'm going to drill and tap the housing, oh and as you can see I used pipe tape. I won't use that again.
I didn't see cooling system capacity in the book. Premix 2 gal?

So I'm thinking to route the 3/4 return under the alternator with a 90 then reduce it to 5/8 to (flow from) the heater. The supply from the manifold starts with a 1/2 npt to 5/8 on a 45 only because the distributor is so tight to it.
