I love the idea of the new concept car. I have a 2000 Saleen turbo charged mustang that my 15 year old grandson and I are going to drive to the FFR open house in June to see the new car concept. This contest is for a car that will appeal to a world market. It's not a contest for a complete engineered car. Once the design has been chosen, it's up to the FFR engineers to finish the car. Keep in mind the car will be marketed world wide so a streamline design would assist in manufacturing and help keep costs lower.

I live in Phoenix and would like to have a car to drive all year. So targa top, windows and a/c would be a must. This would also make it more appealing to a world market.

Two concept cars to look at would be the Ferrari 612 GTO concept 2010 and concept car 2008.

Perhaps you might want to read some of the other posts on this site. The A/C and windows stuff has been discussed several times and you might find it interesting reading. Could you please also explain how a "streamline" design helps manufacturing costs; I don't get it. My first thought would be that a streamlined design is more expensive to produce since panel matching would be much more critical than a "chunky" design. I also don't think FFR is going to copy anything Ferrari related, given the huge lawsuits they have already been involved in (in fact, they have stated as much in this site). I don't really follow why you think the project is being confused?

Hey guys although this is a great point of discussion I can see that the tone of this thread is a little terse right now. Please keep the discussion civil. Thanks :)

I understand your desire to have a top - windows - A/C as it suits your needs however that is more than the basic design parameters as I read them. As nice as those items would be they are not requirements to meet a "World Design". I'm thinking "World Design" has more to do with the availability of the donor parts and street licensing - but I could be wrong.

Regardless it is an interesting project to follow.

It's human nature to assume that your personal ideas are closely matched to the majority. It's also perfectly normal to take your needs and try to motivate others by implying that a majority of others also have the same needs.

I'm sure gathering/sorting/filtering all of this info and ideas is one of the reasons FFR opened this sub-forum well before launch. Any group interaction ends up with "clicks", "camps" and opposed ideals. It's natural and healthy. Just gotta try and keep it civil.

The first release will likely be a roadster, but top, windows a/c will probably be available before anyone is done with their build as add on parts. I do not think the price target can be met with all these options, but we will see.

I believe these topics have been covered at length and have multiple open threads for them already. We all appreciate having an open discussion but the more fresh threads we have opened for redundant topics makes it extremely difficult for newcomers to find the information they are looking for.

I would link you to the discussions about Tops, A/C, Windows etc. but unfortunately most of them have gotten buried and it would take a good while to dig them all up as a result of all the net new threads being opened.

Just browse around a bit and there are some good nuggets to be found.
