I'm wiring the mk4 with the supplied harness. Mike Forte 306 Carb and coil. 2 questions. Looks like I need to make my own wires for the ignition switch? Two signal wires on the distributor black and red. The supplied harness has a wire labeled coil.

The main harness has a branch labeled "ignition switch" that has the wires you need already equipped with ring connectors ready to land at the switch.

---Red "headlight switch feed" and red "ignition switch/solenoid" wires go to the switch's "BAT" terminal
---Brown "accessory feed" and brown "alternator ignition" wires go to the "ACC" terminal
---Orange "ignition feed" wire goes to the "IGNITION" terminal
---Light blue pair "EFI crank" & "ignition switch/neutral start switch" goes to "START" terminal

The orange "ignition feed" wire runs runs between the ignition switch and fuse box then back out with a loose end terminated to a spade connector labeled "coil" which it sounds like you've found. This goes to the + side of your coil. In your carbed application the loose light blue "EFI crank" wire that is equipped with an insulated spade connector similar to the orange coil wire is not used.

As for the black and red wires at the distributor, check the information that Mike should have provided with it. Most likely the red will ultimately land on the - side of the coil and black to ground but it may require a connector or module in between so don't hold me to that.

Good luck,
Jeff

Guess I'll call. I don't have those wires. Thanks.
