I had some hood pin scuff plates made out of 1mm thick carbon fiber with a satin finish to replace the polished pieces that come with the kit. I think the carbon pieces fits better with the more modern feel of the car and coordinates with the aero pieces better than the shiny plates.

What:

Material: 1mm thick, 6K 2x2 twill weave, satin finish on top. Back side is textured for bonding if you desire to rivet and bond plates in place.
Same size and hole pattern as FFR pins
Satin finish hides minor scratches (surface is relatively tough)
Stiffer than FFR metal pieces, able to bend to a 6" radius

Cost:
1 pair: $25

Weight:
FFR pieces are 8.98g
Carbon pieces are 3.44g

For every plate you replace, you can leave 2 pennies in your coin tray and not affect your total weight! Alternatively, you could eat an extra french fry (or two small ones) before your next track session or hold off on that extra bathroom break just before you put your helmet on and strap in! ;)

Oh damn... I was going to pass on these (trying to keep budget), but now that I've seen the photos mounted, I just may have to get some!
