The instalation book that I had for the coyote didnt have me put an engine ground on that was provided in the kit (the medal strap provided, looks like the one for the battery). When you go to the install kit for the cobra in the engine section it has you install one. Did anyone install it and if so where? I know the harness is grounded and all that just wondering about the engine.

I installed a ground wire between one of the motor mount to engine block bolts and the frame perch for the motor mounts on the passenger side. I used some left over #4 ground wire as I have a base kit...

I grounded the engine as well. I suspect that with the harness grounded already it might not need it, but I didn't see any downside to running the strap.

Ron Everet (RE63) indicated that it is required for all Modular Motors. When I was having my Controls Pack issues I reached out to him and that was one of the first things he asked. He is the guru of the modulars and Coyotes so there you have it.

I have always used a ground cable of some type from the block to the frame.

The starter requires if even if the harness is grounded.

I was trying to remember where I had been reminded about the engine ground recently as I had to pick up a metric bolt for it. I found it was in the installation instructions supplied by Breeze with their engine compartment battery mounting kit which supplies a ground cable. Engine block ground straps should be a common practice for all motors.

I read in a For Racing catalog (while setting up my EFI) that the sensor return signal to the PCM can be grossly affected by an inadequate ground. It goes for all Ford engines with EFI. See the link.

You should check for resistance before grounding the engine and then after if you want to verify.
