First, I've cleared this with David and he has approved this topic.
Now, I am attempting to arrange a group buy for a new lift that has come on the market. You can see it here: http://www.bendpak.com/Shop-Equipment/QuickJack/ They retail for $995 (including shipping) and I don't, yet, know if they would be willing to offer us a discount etc. I would like to see how many of you would like to buy one of these so I can negotiate with them.

Ray , I looked into that lift and like the price, and would fit my needs. Im also looking at the EZ car lifthttp://www.ezcarlift.com/ It costs more, but doesn't rely on hydraulics (it uses an 8amp electric drill) to power it. I'm also a little concerned about the side to side stability. The EZ car lift also offers a group sale option.

Thats a very nice setup Ray. Thanks for posting it. I need to do a bit more research to ensure it will fit under the GTM. Otherwise its a nice solution for the track.

FWIW, I don't think side-to-side stability would be a concern. The footprint of each rail looks at least as wide as your standard jack stand, so I'd find it hard to say it would be any less stable than what most folks are currently using.

I have a Bendpack 4-poster and this would make it the pefect combination for me... I'd be able to life the car off the wheels while it's at working height. Count me as someone who's interested in getting info on a discounted group-buy.

very interested too. A little concerned if my fat stomach can fit under a 17" or so lift, but heck, I will try it!!!

"The 5000 is still essentially in prototype-phase. We are letting the public know it is coming, but it is still being designed. As it is a newer lift I will not be permitted to sell below MRP for the lift. If he still wants to talk to me or ask me any questions I will be very eager to speak with him."

I was told when I ordered that they would be shipped in mid-April. It sounded like it was a done-deal, not that Robert was waiting for us to hit a minimum number.
Here is Robert's reply to my e-mail:
"Yes the group-buy was successful with 11 confirmed orders! Time is running out though for any ‘last minute-ers’ though, as I will have to cut the discount as soon as the bulk amount begins shipping. I have not yet been instructed to halt the discount for people still wanting to join the group-buy (and am going to avoid bringing up that topic with my bosses) so as of now it is still open. When I get instructed to cease and desist I will let you know.
As far as when the orders are going to be ready to ship; the back-order date is still around April 18th. I will keep a watch over all the Forum members orders to ensure everything transitions smoothly and as quick as possible."
So it looks like we are looking at a mid to late April shipping.
If you know of anyone on the fence and waiting to order, as Robert says "time is running out...." so let them know.

A note to those who are planning on track use... the std lift comes with AC powered hydraulic pump. A 12V DC pump is optional (@ $500 approx.) I arranged for mine to come with the DC pump VS the AC one. I figured that when I'm at home I always have a battery available and I can bring it with me when I go to an autocross or track day.

I called today to check status and they did say they are trying to ship about 15 a day. However mine has NOT shipped yet and they think it will ship within the next few days. I may have it next week. They must have sold a TON of these...

My credit card card was charged yesterday. It won't get here in time. I've had this weekend blocked off for over a month to drop the front suspension out of my Miata. Damn - I really wanted to use the lift NOT jack stands.
They took our money in February. If they just took yours, it could be a while before u see it :(
Mine arrived in two shipments, one yesterday and the second today....
