I have a question for you guys...

When you measure the ride height of your GTM, what are you using as your point of reference?

I've been using the frame rail just behind the front wheels, and the rail just ahead of the rear wheels.

When I got the car back from Courty's shop (wiring), the car was sitting at maybe 2 1/2" to 3" at the front, and about 3 1/2" at the rear. I know that I had it set at 4" F, & 4 1/2" R before it left my garage. Immediately I thought that the tire pressure must have dropped a little. But it was exactly where I had it.

Has anyone else had any issues with the car "settling down" after setting the ride height to where you want it?

Just curious...

It will settle, while adjusting you have to roll the car back and forth to let it settle. And I expect to find it settle again after it's driven some.

Yes what you are desribing is called the box, at least thats what I call it. The car is built off the box being square and level. Then the body height should be adjusted to match that.

Yes, I knew that it would settle a little after moving it around some. I will set the front and rear of one side. Sit it on the ground and roll it about 10 ft back and forth. Then I go to the other side, set the height for Front and Rear; and then roll it 10 feet back and forth again. Then I check the height at all four corners, and correct as necessary. Once I've done that, then I drive it around the neighborhood and back; roughly a couple of miles (as a reward for my "hard work"). And then check it one last time. When I did this last, it was still the same after driving it.

I set it once before the body was mounted. I set it again after the body was on, and there was considerably more weight added. Then I set it when I switched out the shocks and springs.

It doesn't really matter. I still have to go out and re-set it. I was just surprised to see it down that much. (1 1/2" in the Front., and about 1 1/2" in the rear). Seems like a lot to me. That's why I wanted to ask.

Thanks.

Would it have sagged that much from any added weight. Inch and a half seems like alot, I agree.

Hi Mike,
Are you using the stock Konis or adjustable shocks with reservoirs? Maybe lost charge or fluid migration?

Hi Mike,

I switched to a set Genesis Racing Shocks that were tuned for the GTM, from Ted Harrison (QRP).

I don't believe that it is a shock related issue, so far. It jut seemed odd to me to notice that much of a drop. I was in West Palm when the car was delivered to my house in Charlotte, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how they got it on and off the hauler, and then up my driveway without it dragging across the loading ramp, as well as the entry to the driveway...

The Ram-Lift didn't lift, because the fluid had apparently leaked out of the reservoir. The plastic to plastic seals isn't the best idea in my opinion. So I'm looking for a billet replacement.

So I got the car back with a dead battery, air in the coolant lines again, and with the car sitting an inch and a half lower...

Did you tighten down the set screws in the spring-seat lock collars?

Did you check to make sure the shocks you sent it with are still on the car? I know that sounds odd, but given your experiences...

Mike, you didn't spend some serious time at those local North carolina Buffet's while the car was dropped off? I use the "Fast and Furious method of checking ride height: As long as I clear the bottom of the tractor trailer's trailer as I cross underneath him for the pass, I know it's low enough.
