Ever been pulled over in a Factory Five? Yesterday in the Mark IV.
Yep, once. By the end of the stop the Officer looked like a idiot.

I got pulled over once. Because the officer was building a FFR and wanted to talk about the car. That was a very pleasant 30 minutes. :)

RAY, that is funny since I can imagine you reciting the code back to the officer.

Not exactly pulled over, but in heavy stop/go traffic a CHP cruiser "whooped" the siren behind me, pulled up along side, rolled down his window and said "nice car".

I was pulled over after he tailed me for about two minutes. He said he ran the plates and the car "didn't come up on his computer as a Ford" but as a "2013 REC". He didn't know what that was so he wanted to see my license and registration. I guess he saw the car, thought it was some kind of Ford or Mustang. He also wanted to see the VIN plate to see if the "last four numbers matched the registration card", which I showed him. The second squad car joined shortly thereafter. It just got me thinking if this is something anyone else has experienced. The registration doesn't say "2001 Ford Roadster" like my other F5 did. Never got pulled over in that one for registration. I guess New Jersey has it's own way of doing things.
From this experience I learned that you're probably less likely to get pulled over if your roadster is registered as something familiar like "Ford, Cobra, Shelby, 1965, or Roadster".

so, he ran the plate just to run the plate? were you driving "aggressively"? No reports of stolen cars etc... Jersey... I can't wait; I'm waiting on my paperwork from Trenton. I hope it's not like that everywhere...

Yeah, just to run the plate. They do that. As you can see in the pic, the road was slightly wet so I was doing, maybe between 10 and 15 mph, if that much, going down a hill. There was another car about 20ft in front of me and one behind the cop so we were all about 20ft apart going the same speed single file.

So what happened Ray?
So what happened Ray?
Local PD Officer stopped me for a "smog" violation (said that I was registered in violation of CA smog laws.) He told me that he wanted to examine my motor. Told him that he didn't have sufficient probable cause and that I did not consent to a search of either my person or vehicle. He looked at me and asked if I was a lawyer. "Nope, I'm the worse person that you could have stopped for this. I'm a retired CHP Officer and I built this car." Long story short, I had to explain the SB-100 program, SPCN registration, why I didn't have (or need) fuel injection etc. He didn't like it but there wasn't anything he could do about it.

Probably had more important things to do with his time than to notice that.

I have learned that there's one thing a patrolman hates is an educated citizen who's not afraid to say, "No". I have ticked off a lot of cops over the years. But maybe that's just me.
