My son practices in Portland so I took the opportunity to go and visit with Bill to check out his progress.

My old brain is having a cramp. I know maybe I should know but I'm not sure what QD means.

quick disconnects on passenger upper fender. They look like air ones. But just wondering what they do on the car?

I'm pretty sure that they are "faux" but they accurately replicate the air jack receptacle and the cooling water connection ... for quick pit stops.

I'm sorry, I shoulda known, slow thinker DUH. Anyways thay are not hooked up, however I fabricated them in such a manner that they could be used if desired. Garry did explain their use. As I'm not tracking the car I really don't need air jacks or cooling connections, anyways much too expensive on the air jacks. I just tried to replicate as close as possible CSX1026 and thought they would be a neat touch. Some of the others had them mounted in a different spot as Gbeck shows. Presumably the left is for water and the right for air (male connector as found on most air tools with the female end on the attaching hose) and according to Peter Brock so the pit guys didn't make the wrong connection. Thanks for the interest.

First I need to correct the number CSX 2601. The 1026 I used number comes from the GT40 registry I was just looking at the other day. I also just thought of something interesting. In Peter Brock's book "Cobra Daytona Coupe CSX2601" Page 32 shows a close up of these plugs. And on page 9 and page 13 there are clear shots of quick jack fitments on both front and rear. So your guess is as good as mine as to which method was really used in pit stops as both methods were available for use. Maybe different tracks had different requirements. Good topic for my next conversation with Peter as I would like to order John Morton's book.

That looks really nice. I have the recent book about Daytona Coupes that was put out when the 2601 car went up for auction and couldn't figure out what those connectors did! Thanks for clearing that up.
