My dead pedal aluminum looks nothing like the part in the manual. It's the part by your feet that covers the coolant hose. Just can't seem to make sense of it. Looked through a few build threads, didn't get a clear pic.
Thanks, Adam

Awesome, thanks Mechie! Didn't realize there was another small panel there. The manual pic is a different design completely. Bugged me so much to leave it last night, and it was my first thought this morning, thus the post.
Thanks again, Adam

I found a small triangle piece marked 80604. It seems to fit on the drivers side floor left. Am I supposed to rivet it and the dead pedal piece to the steel floor ? If I do that the bottom of the rivet will stick down under the car ? Any ideas for super glue or other adhesive ?

You can rivet to the steel floor and use the same silicone as you would on the firewall to create the water seal

I put the rivet in from the bottom so only the head would show beneath, and the rivet lump on the top side will be covered by insulation & carpet and never noticed.

Love this forum, I had the same issue, now I don't.
Thanks Guys
I've gotten to the point where I have just about given up on the manual. Not only is it incomplete, in some cases like this it shows you the wrong things. Luckily the participation of this message board has filled that void in most cases. Some of it will still take some trial and error.

I read a post early on where someone mentioned the manual should be used as a loose guide. Improvements don't always keep up, an oversight happens here or there, or heck so much becomes moot as we upgrade or modify things to suit our own needs. As an early adopter, I expected this. FFR will sort their side out, I believe, over time. I've learned to read thread topics as I'm approaching each stage of the build. Our collective experiences and creative solutions have addressed most of the shortcomings of the manual. And as I lowered my 818 go kart onto its feet for the first time today on 818 day (Aug 18), trust me, I wasn't having any negative thoughts about the manual or the challenges faced to reach this point. Like Scotty, I have enjoyed the challenge, and probably moreso enjoyed the experience because of the extra degree of difficulty from facing unsorted issues. But even better, for the things the manual did get right, so many improved ideas have been generated in this forum, that you'll wish you read the threads before completing many of the steps.

Bringing an old thread back up..
We are in the habit of pressing firmly onto the dead pedal in our Miata on the auto-x course.
How strong does this design wind up being? Should we reinforce it given our usual use case?

I tend to push hard on my dead pedals too. I haven't figured out a good way to reinforce it yet though. I'd love to see how (if) other people have done it.

I'll see what replies we get today, and have a look at designing something tonight if we aren't coming up with much from the group.
