I'm wondering which 8.8 rearend is the correct width for the 33? Will a mustang rear fit, if so, which years. Also, will a late '90's rear from a v8 fit? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Highly suggest you get yourself a copy of the build manual. You can get the electronic copy for $10 at:

But to answer your question, any 8.8 Mustang rear from 86-04 will fit, although you will want one 94 and later as they went to the 5 lug axle. FFR recommends the 59.25" width for best wheel fitment, which is the 87-93 housing. The 94-98 uses a 61.125. I personally went with a Cobra rear for the larger rear brakes, but it is a little wider at 62.50. An inch or two extra width is not going to make much of a difference, but you can adjust your backspacing on your wheels to compensate.

Hope this helps.

I believe that all Fox though '04 will "fit" they use the same four link geometry. However, they newer they get, the wider they are so take into consideration how wide a tire you want and if your going to run fenders.

Lol...it's called being bored at work (I work from home when I am not on the road). I forgot about the fenders though, so that is definitely something Biff will want to consider.

If you go with the 86-93 for width, you can easily change the axels to 5 lug.

Wow! Great info! Thanks to all of you. I'll get the build manual and get some info. I really appreciate all the replies. I have a Lone Star Cobra (sorry, guys) and I used to have an A and C 34 3 window coupe. Both were a fun build, but the 34 was an awful lot of work. The F5 33 looks great. I can't wait to start another build. Biff
