When I take hold of the roll bar and shake the car side to side, or on stop and start, I here a sound somthing like pounding on a furnace duct. The sound comes from the fuel tank and is metal on metal along with usual gas sloshing. Is there a baffle or somthing else that can come loose in there? And what recommendations do you have for repair?
Thanks, Phil

It's most likely the splash baffle underneath the pick up. It's spot welded in, and usually comes loose.

I think Bob's got it right. No idea how you would fix it though? Choppy choppy?

Spot weld breaks on one side then the other tab eventually fatigues and snaps.
Really a problem on an autox course I couldn't run with less than half a tank.of fuel

If it is the baffle then replace the tank soon. When my baffle broke it moved around and cut the sock filter on my in-tank fuel pump and this is what I found in my fuel pump inlet - small metal filings.
