Wiring Harness

I am reconfiguring the kit harness for simplicity, compactness and function. I am puzzled as to why the gauges are feed through the accessory side of the ignition switch. Why would you want your gauges on with the engine shut off? I would like to convert them to an ignition feed. Any problems with this approach? Thanks for any help provided.

Seems strange. I would change it as well.
