Title says it all.
Does anyone know what year this STi cluster would be? It's from the future donor I am about to buy. And it's for sale. Not the donor but the cluster! But I can't sell it until I have it. loll
Not in mph, in kmh.

Something seems off. The kmh ones should go up much higher than 180. Should be 260 based on a quick google image search.

Yes I thought that too.
It does act like an STi cluster, I mean when turned off it's all black. It also has the rpm in the middle and some other functions we see on STi clusters.
Unless it's sort of an ebay Chinese knock-off?

If the cluster came from Japan (JDM), it seems during some years/versions they were limited to 180 kmh.
I think it's a v8 JDM.

If this cluster is sold on ebay for US320, that'd be 45% of the price of the donor if I buy it. But the donor has 200k km on the speedo though, not 30k. Looks like a nice deal to me still, since I won't use a Subaru cluster and would NEVER want to use a 180kmh speedo anyway.
Hello Frank818, yes there are differences beteen STI clusters, not functional/cosmetic, but 2005-2007 the left dash conection (when you look front to it is different), it has 9+7 rows of pins, vs 8+6 in 2004 (exacly like the Wrx 2002-2007). This means if you want to swap a 2005-2007 sti cluster in a WRX you need at least that one plug, but its easyer and less mess to buy the hole cluster harness. But that is not all, 2004 STI cluster works better with 2002-2004 WRX (very, very little modifications), and 2005-2007 STI clusters works better with 2005-2007WRX's (but with the cluster harness), or else you may have the ABS light on and buzzing... but if it's for an 818 you probabily don't have ABS and you did a integrated unit delete (no buzzing), I would say that mabe the 2004 sti cluster is the way to go, plug and play... like that you wont need that cluster harness.
04 STI cluster work best on 02-04 wrx although 04 WRX require some additional modification since there are buzzing sounds as well and also something about the ebrake I believe.
Sorry for all my bla bla, it's a JDM cluster 2004 or 2005, because only in 2006 (long story) cars in japan were limited to 180 km/h, and 280hp
I have a Jdm STI engine on my car, because I did not do a tunne I'm still limited to 180 km/h, that I can reach in 3rd gear...
25319 this is a 2004 sti plug, if it's different it's a 2005+, by the way 2006+ JDM clusters are 260km/h, and usualy the sell for 500$ and some times more

Well, the future donor is a 2002, so I guess it has the easier cluster on it. Too bad I can't use it on my automatic 2005 (I could maybe, but there is no AT OIL TEMP warning and P, D, R, N, etc...).
I'll check on the plug when I dismantle it, tnx.
There is still a chance I won't get that donor, but I think 80% that I will.
I would stay away from 2002-05 WRX 2.0L the engine is just not strong enough, I have 3 buddys that blew theres with less than 120.000km, including my self (96.0000km) with good sintetic oil changes at max. 5000km, plus those trannys are not the stronger (2002-03), with less than 100.000 a buddy blew is 3 times... 2006-07 is a better pacage, the 2.5 is a it stronger and also the tranny, plus you get the 4/2 pots calipers, faster steering rack, aluminum front control arms, always better resale value in what you dont need, j'essaye juste d'aider!!!

Not discounting your personal experience, but a lot of folks - myself included - would disagree with that statement.

As Xusia said, not to be argumentative, but I would also disagree with that statement. I had a 2002 for 8 years, 120k miles. Drove it plenty hard, but didn't abuse the transmission (if I was going to launch "hard" I let the clutch take the abuse by letting it slip a bit). Stage 1 (Cobb). Still ran perfect the day I sold it (sold it to get a 2011 WRX hatchback).
I know that there are lots of 2002-2005 WRX out there with more than 200.000km, mabe you guys don't have rough winters, here in Canada/Montreal we have big snow storms is that why??? I don't know, mabe, but for me it's not a reliable engine (4 engines under 120.000km that I know). Not trying to start a fight I was just expressing my own experience with the 2.0L. I'm sorry if I upset someone...

I'm not upset in the slightest, and certainly didn't mean to come across that way. :) Your experience with those engines is what it is. A lot of folks who are not necessarily as knowledgeable read these posts, though. Therefore I thought it important to express your experience isn't typical, and that the 2.0L turbo engine isn't universally panned. Both platforms have their pluses and minuses. I would hate for someone to think they need a 2.5L turbo donor, and not consider all relevant facts.
