View Full Version : Windshield Wipers Won't Park FFR #8075

Have installed the windshield wiper motor and the supplied off-on-on switch per directions. The Low and High functions work perfectly, but will not PARK when switched back to the off position.
All wires have continuity from end to end, and the ground wire going to wiper motor post #1 (top) is good.
Any chance there is something wrong with the motor internal park switch or cam?
Is there a way I can test the motor to confirm it is at fault? Any chance the switch is bad; how can I test it for fault?
Francis harness; 12V+ supplied by purple wiper wire.
I have also tried wiring to the motor with a conventional on-off-on switch via a relay 25285per the attached diagram; same result: Hi/Lo good, no Park.
Any recourse?
Cheers, Dale Thomas

Try this:
http://www.ffcars.com/forums/attachments/factory-five-roadsters/21071d1298132474-wiper-wiring-self-park-lucas-motor-park-feature-connections.jpg
Note that you have wiper contact #5 going to relay #87 rather than #30 and you also have #30 & #86 tied together instead of #86 & #87.

Hi Jeff, if you posted an attachment, it does not show. The diagram I posted above came from Dan over on ffcars. Greg offered a diagram with diodes that I also tried. I'll try the combination you refer to, but doesn't the fact that the out-of-the-box FFR set-up (switch & wiring diagram) doesn't park mean something else is wrong? All three Dan's, Greg's and FFR's won't park.

Dale,
It's just an image of the schematic---it shows in my post and your quote. Anyway, if you can't see it:
Motor contact #1 to ground
Motor contact #2 to relay #87a
Motor contact #3 to switch "fast"
Motor contact #4 to +12 volt supply
Motor contact #5 to relay #30
Relay #86 and #87 both to switch "slow"
Relay #85 to ground
+12 volt supply to switch feed
Curious to know if that does it for you.
Good luck,
Jeff

I can see it now, thanks Jeff.
Just hooked it up per diagram. Still the same: hi/low OK, no park. Leads me to believe that something is wrong with the internal motor park switch or cam, whatever. Sure didn't plan to spend a week on the wiper!

Has anyone opened-up the wiper motor? Is this something that is repairable?
