Got my double roll bars and mounting sleeves today (Sharpe Products). Anxious to see how they are going to look. Went with 2" Stainless steel tubing bent on a 14" outside radius. The brushed SS should match the grill and windshield since they will be a brushed finish. 25283

$676 total including shipping and the No.4 brushed finished. $100 less without the finishing. Includes the sleeves as well. I just found them on the internet, sent them a drawing (I can post if interested) and got a quote. Turnaround from order to delivery was about 10 days. Tubes have a slightly noticeably transition at the end of the curve and start of the straight run due to the thinning of the diameter as the tube is stretched/compressed. I don't know if that is avoidable given the tight radius. But it's not that noticeable. There are no ripples on the inside bend. I'm pretty pleased.

Nice, I will add them to my short list. I have one of Tim's roll bars now, but really like the doubles. Do you plan on straight up or with a slight backward cant?

Hi Bill! I have been looking in to doing this and its exactly what I am looking for. Would you mind sharing the specs on the lengths, bends, etc..
Thanks!
Charles

No problem Charles. Attached is the drawing I sent to Sharpe Products for the quote and then fabrication. They are in Wisconsin. Big Packers fans. The roll bars are longer than they need to be. As drawn, they are 26.5" tall. I didn't know at that time how tall I wanted them, so I made them longer so I could cut to length myself. I haven't installed them yet, so I still don't know, but it looks like the total height is going to be between 22 and 24 " I'll post some results after they are installed.

Thank you so much Bill. Very much appreciated! If you can, let us know the final height.

Thanks,
Charles

Hi Jack,

If you go with the double roll bar, do you want to part with the one from Tim?
I like the look. Tim is out of stock.

Thanks,

Larry

i got the roll bars installed - see pics. if you wan to leave these in with the hard top on, then there is very little room for error. with top on, max height looks to be 21.5 inches, just like the ff roll bar. I will raise it to around 25" in roadster config. With the 2" tubes, the mounting sleeves have to be set further back than than the original location or you run into the back of the waterfall cover. Too far back and they interfere with the hard top. Since I want to go back and forth between roadster and coupe, i had to figure just the right placement. the outside edge of the sleeve is 0.75" back from the edge of the horizontal frame piece. This is as close to the front as you can go. They are centered on the seat. This puts the outside mounting sleeve about 1 inch inside the original mounting sleeve. if you aren't planning on a hard top, then move them as far back as you can, you'll hit the gas tank at some point. This will make the holes in the waterfall cover more in the flat section instead of the curved section. My bars are 14" wide, a little wider would help in locating the holes in the waterfall to a flatter section, but may not look as good (preference). Take your time and measure closely on this.

Very nice design - like this much better than the FFR bar, to me is more in character with the car.

Very nice change-up from the FF hoop.
If someone would check with Wolff tubing fabrication on the hoops they might get them with a smoother transition due to their mandrel bends. I bought 2.5" SS tight bends from them for my 33. They made them a 2.5" radius on a 2.5" pipe for my header to exhaust pipe where I had to make a quick vertical to horiz change to stay in the chassis slots. Worth a look.
