View Full Version : Faulty LCA ball joint?

I got my LCA on. On the passenger side, I installed the spindle, aluminum spacer, then castlenut. After a few threads by hand, I used an open end to lock it down. To my surprise, after only a few turns, the entire threaded stud turned along with the castlenut, and I dont have it anywhere close to as far down as I need to in order to get the cotter pin in, nevermind to torque it down. Is it a faulty part, or am I missing something here? Drivers side went in just fine.
Thanks in advance.

Paul,

Nothing wrong, sometimes the taper of the joint doesn't sit in the spindle before the nut will turn the ball joint stud. Easiest thing to do is get a soft mallet and give the spindle a good whack down onto the taper, all it needs to do is get enough to start pulling them together and then the friction of the cones will take over from there. You can also use an impact gun set on low if you have one but you will need a wobble extension to get in there.
