Hello everyone!

Quick background, I've known about F5 kit cars for quite a while, but I became mesmerized by the GTM upon its release which prompted a dream to start building one with my dad (lotus racing green, just cause I can). Years later and now the dream is highly feasible. My dad bought his pride and joy R8 and I can't think of anything cooler than building an equally awesome car to go cruise PCH alongside his. So that brings me here to these forums. I figured this would be the best place to learn as much as I can about these builds, specifically the GTM.

Also, I'm sure somebody on these forums knows about Supercar Sunday at the Westfield Promenade Mall. I go almost every weekend and always see a handful of MK4s, but I've never come over to chat because my scene is usually with all the japanese tuners that show up late haha.

Welcome to the forum. Come on by the annual gathering of FFR owner/builders at Huntington Beach this April to view a lot of cars at once. Several GTM's usually show up.

I definitely shall. If it's on a weekend, I just need to make sure it's not also an autocross weekend.

Then you would really like the new 818. WRX based vehicle. Mid-engine, rear wheel drive, and 350-hp with the right engine in an 1800-lb car. http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/project-818/

Hope to meet you at HB-2014. Look for the dark blue MK-II with chrome smoothie wheels and dual roll-bars.

I'll definitely be researching the 818 as well since the budget for that wouldn't hurt as bad, but the GTM just...looks...so...cool. And between my dad and I, we have chevy small block and porsche trans experience. I'll get a better idea of which path I should take the longer I research and chat with people. And I will certainly keep a look out for you at HB2014, Ray.

From you post(s) it looks like you live in the San Fernando Valley (Woodland Hills, maybe Canoga Park area?) That all used to be my stomping grounds grew up in Calabasas and ran all over the valley for years. Spent a TON of time driving through Malibu, Topanga, Kanan etc. during my miss-spent youth.

Ray, why are you quoting MY history?

Only difference is I grew up in Woodland Hills...

Chatsworth born and raised! I work in HB now but visit family in the SFV almost every weekend which is why I consistently attend Supercar Sunday.

I also cruise the canyons with my 240sx whenever I can.
