I hope it's ok to post this here but I thought that I might be able to get some input on this from you all. I need to replace the shed in my backyard this spring, original plan was to build myself but after searching on-line I found a kit that makes more sense to buy. There's always a but in everything so the but in this is that they ship these themselves so the shipping costs are pretty high. The kit comes on a pallet and shrinkwrapped and are open to my sourcing my own shipping company. Does anyone have any input as to who I could call for shipping from Lancaster, PA to Boston (Westwood), MA...roughly 375 miles.

Any help is greatly appreciated

When shipping something that can be placed on a flatbed trailer, I always use a local broker and just book the space needed for what I am shipping. This way I am only paying for the space needed and it is MUCH cheaper than LTL carriers.

I moved your topic to the Off Topic section of the Forum.

Have you though about just picking it up your self? It would probably fit on a flat trailer just fine.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, the best and cheapest way to get this here. Where would I find a local broker?

750 miles round trip, do you have a truck? sounds like a one day road trip... figure .50 per mile actual cost to drive

so I would ship it if you can get it done for $500 or so, if not, I'd take a road trip but I have the time

6 hours each way, $500 for truck rental and gas...not that attractive to me. Exactly what I want to know, if it can be shipped for $500 or less otherwise not worth it.

thanks all

If it was a rolling chassis, yes, if it is palletted, without a way to easily move, load, and unload it (being an oversized item), then you are not likely to be able to source a door to door move for less than that $500. Maybe you can make a post on "Uship", and you'll get individuals from the TV show shipping wars to bid on shipping your item. Of course you'll need weight, width, length, height of what you are planning to ship.

Otherwise, as already stated above, renting a truck and moving it yourself will be your only viable option in your projected budget.
