View Full Version : Engine mounts on the base kit?

I am in the researching and planning stage of my build and even though I am not going to have a donor car, I am thinking of going with a base kit. Largely because I want to add Wilwood pedal box, hydraulic clutch, Wilwood brakes, IRS, maybe PS, and a bunch more options what would leave me with a lot of excess in the complete kit. I am likely going with a 302 variant turnkey motor, likely a 347. I noticed there is no engine mount option with the base kit. Will the base kit engine mounts work with a 302 variant crate motor? I am assuming yes, since I believe the Mustang V8 was a 302, but I want to be sure.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Sounds like you may be needing the complete kit and delete a few things you don't need. FFR will do that. If Wilwood pedal box doesn't come in the complete kit and you can upgrade to the optional large Wilwood brakes and get it. The IRS is also an option. All the options are half price now. Power steering will be the same cost in either kit as will a hydraulic clutch.

Planning is key to cost saving and part of the fun. I thought I had a handle on exactly what I wanted and still ended up buying some things twice. Good luck with your build.
