Would you apply Lizard Skin in your shop (shop is in basement of house) or must I wait for warmer weather to apply it outside?

I applied Lizard Skin during my Roadster build some months ago. Did it in my garage with the door open when it was warm. (Seems like a long time ago now...) It's recommended to spray, and not recommended to brush or roll. So will assume you mean spraying with their undercoat gun or something similar. There is no strong odor, so that's not a problem. The sound control product is quite thick and heavy, and doesn't create much mist overspray. Just kind of specks or blobs. So if you had everything covered up well, could be OK in a closed space like a basement. The heat control product is quite a bit lighter, so does atomize more and make some mist overspray. Again, if everything reasonably covered, maybe not a problem. But to be honest the stuff is pretty messy. And it doesn't clean up well once it dries because it's pretty tough. The next time, even in my garage, I will cover up a lot more than I did this time. I personally probably wouldn't use in my basement.

Here is a thread I did on the other forum about my experience with the application FWIW. http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/342954-lizard-skin-application-experience.html

Good luck.

I have been spraying my parts in my open garage, 75° and like edwardb said no strong fumes. I sprayed over a large sheet of plastic and still was not enough so mask about 10' from where you are spraying because the stuff does fly pretty far. It scrapes off my concrete floor fairly easily, but sticks to everything else. You may experience longer dry times in an enclosed space so I would do more lighter coats. Just watch for the point when the gun starts sucking air from the cup. Mine starts to shoot large globs that take forever to dry but it gives you subtle hints before it is about to do so. I still have more parts to spray and after using the gun about 8 times I have figured out the settings. My CI (heat control) product to be thicker than the SC (Sound control) and question if it is old because it hardly pours out of the bucket into the cup. It calls for a higher pressure setting on the gun so I thought this was normal.

Good luck!

I agree the CI (heat) is less viscous than the SC (sound). It's almost like paste. I too had to use a little higher pressure on the gun with it. But once it's flowing, because it's much lighter (maybe half the weight?) it atomizes more than the SC so is more of a concern for overspray. I wore a mask when using it as well. My buckets of LS had lot and date codes printed on them. It should be pretty easy to see if they are old or not. Mine were only about 1 month old at the time. The vendor shipped pretty fresh stock, which is apparently important.
