I thought I would start a thread about my MKIV build. I've ordered a basic kit and am going to do a donor build. Of course some of you will know from another forum that my donor is my FFR MKII. It was declared a total loss by the insurance company after a minor accident two months ago.
So, with the 50/50 sale I was able to get quite a few options cheep. Powder coat, cut outs, tubular LCA's, wiring, brakes, polished side pipes, chrome roll bar, 3 link, and a few others.
My donor has a basic 306 with an AOD and a 3.73 rear end. Currently everything is 4 lug but I will be upgrading to 5 lug.
I understand that unlike the MKII, I will have to be making some changes to the trans mount to accept the AOD, so if anyone has a pattern for how they modified theirs I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

Should be an interesting build. Good luck on the transition from the MKII to the MKIV.
WEK.

Sorry for your mis-fortune, but glad you are ok and everything is turning out for the better.
Just curious, since this is your second build, what will you be upgrading / changing from your original build?
I know you said 4-lug to 5-lug
PS?
PB?
did you have 4-wheel discs before? brakes upgrade?
upgrading to FFR front spindles?
seats?
paint color?
wheels? (going to have to change them from 4 to 5 lug)
I can personally recommend the PS FB expansion, gains a lot of foot room!
good luck, keep us posted

Otto, glad to hear you're building another. If you need a hand or planning a build (or tear down) party let me know and I'll try to make it. You live on the south end of Lakeland right?

MPTech;
Will not be doing PS, not sure about the PB yet - still up in the air. I had 4 wheel discs before but the rears were 10.5 from a T-Bird. I got the 11.65 rear option from FFR, the front currently has the Fox spindles so I'll at least be going to the SN95. I like the low back roadster seats so I'll stick with them. Planning on a red with white stripes again.
Yes Mark, I'm at the south end of lakeland and I'll keep you in mind if I need any help. I'll probably be seeing a lot of your neighbor (the blond hair kid who drives the big brown truck, he used to stop by when ever he was making deliveries in my neighborhood to check on my build).

Glad to see it is working out for you Otto. It certainly isn't the way you planned things but the good part is the MkIV is a much better car than the MkII.

We'll, I've been slowly taking my donor apart and prepping parts for re-use or sale in preparation of my new kits arrival. My required date was the 18th and Stewart said they would be picking it up between the 20th to the 24th. Of course I'm setting here in Florida watching the weather and it sure looks like anything coming out of New England this week is probable not going to happen. Oh well, no rush, hope everyone up there stays warm and safe.

WOOHOO!!! Setting here watching a little TV and the caller ID pops up with an AZ Cell phone number. Don't recognize it so let it go to voice mail. I hear something about Stewart and I drop the iPad, trip over the dog, and knock over a lamp rushing to get the phone. Driver said he should be here by Sunday afternoon!!! The "no rush" above has turned into a "can't wait" now.

Will be a long day today, and likely a sleepless night, so stay up and watch the Olympics.

Will be taking pictures for sure! Getting kind of antsy as I haven't received any more calls from the driver. Delivery is currently scheduled for after 4 pm Sunday. Thanks for the offer Mark, I think we should have everything covered but I've PM'd you my address and number just in case you want to stop by and check it out.
Thanks

Well He was a little late, got here at 5:30. He had a delivery in Clearwater that took longer than expected. Next is to inventory everything and then develop a plan. I'm trying to convince the wife I need a bigger garage! It feels just like Christmas!!!

Congrats Otto! Sorry I couldn't make it. I didn't even leave Winter Haven until 5:30. A good friend of mine with a Mk 3.1 lives just minutes from you. Maybe we can swing by and lend a hand or do a build party. Best of luck with the build!
