Question to roadster experts: what is the best way to fasten a grill to the nose hoop of the body - rad opening?

I am not keen on drilling holes through the body. I have an aluminum grill that is to be fastened to the inside of the nose hoop.

Thanks in advance :D

Check around for some "U" shaped, barbed clips... maybe at McMaster-Carr.

Thanks - good idea

I was thinking along the same line with some aluminum U clips with a a bolt on one side to clamp the grill along the inner side of the body

Thx

Update

After much consideration I have decided the easiest way to fasten an after market aluminum mesh grill to the front body (rad) opening without using bolts or other visible fasteners is to use several 2 inch long beads of silicone strategically placed along the inner lip perimeter of the opening and pressing the front grill in place. This way when I need to remove the grill, I should be able to free the grill from the silicone without too much effort (and not destroy the grill). I will also fasten the oil cooler grill in the same way.

The grill came with several bolts and 2 strips of Velcro for installation. The Velcro is a good idea but you can not access the area to attach so silicone seems to be the logical answer.

If anyone has any better ideas, please share

Thx

Could you take a photo of the grill cover when it's installed and post it here? I have been considering something similar myself.

Thanks!

Hans

Will do

I just installed the grills and silicone is drying. Looks a little more finished and hides the rad a little.

I used masking tape on the top surfaces of the opening to insure that no silicone gets on the paint as I understand that would not be good for the paint.

Hans,

I have attached a few photos with the grill's installed. I don't think it takes anything away from the car. - See attached
