I know this has been asked at both forums, but not with any real answer.
I need to know if I can lower the overall height of the top 1.5" =2", without most ppl not having any problem. I am 5'9", I am sure I would not have a problem, but not sure about 6' and up.
Some might remember the tops I designed. I am thinking about the A2C design only more streamlined and smooth for the Speedster design I am working on.

My wife is about 6' and I spent plenty of time looking at headroom to design my 4 point cage around her, so at 5'9"
you should be fine for "headroom" on a 2" chop but the sight line will be a problem. The cone of sight is already very
narrow due to the distance from the windshield and the height of glass. I did see a chopped 33 where they
carried the glass up into the front of the top to cure this and it actually looked pretty good.
As long as you don't elevate the rear of the seat it should work. I like some bend in my legs to drive comfortably so
for my taste the front needs tipped up a bit even with an auto trans and at 5'6" I raised the whole thing a bit more
for a better view out in front. Looking forward to your renderings

I am 6'3" and another loss of 2" would not work for me. The view out the front is small enough. Some sort of 1/4 window to help side view would be a big help. The car has a huge blind spot over the shoulders. something like the 57 T-Bird.

Thanks guys! :) From what both of you said it sounds like I could take say 1.5" out of the top, but 2" may be a bit much, hard to believe how much a half an inch makes a difference.
I read about the line of sight thing here and I think in the other forum as well. Now I get what everybody was talking about.
If you notice on the A2C top above, the windshield is tlted inward 10 degs, which should help some, since it brings the top part of the windshield closer. Downside is the rear door pillar was also tilted inward, which would probably add to the blind spot problem.
I wonder if a curve rearview mirror would help with the blind spot problem. I have a 2 pane rearview mirror in my Pickup, the bottom pane is curved, I love it, pretty much the same size as a regular rearview mirror.
Here is a couple of pictures comparing the orig top and the A2C design, you can see how the pillars are tilted inward.

I'll figure something out :)
