Type 65 question 18in wheels and tires

Has anybody tried runing 275/40-18in tires they are pretty tall and was wondering if they will work? They are 26.7ish dia. and should fill the wheel wells better than the normal 30-35 series side walls, the 15in wheel crowd runs around a 26.5in tall tire, can we?

Also can someone tell me the ideal backspace for that same tire all around the car on 18x10 or 18x9.5 rim's. I have 95 rear axles and ffr front spindle's I want to order wheels pretty soon but im afraid to order them with the wrong backspace as they are custom wheels with no returns.

I know this subject has been beat to death in the past but I would really like some expert advice on this one.

I run 18 x10 wheels in the rear but with 315x30 tires. I think with a larger profile you would have issue with tire rub on the inner wheel well area. I also run 1/2" spacers to help minimize this.
