Studying the assembly manual while I'm waiting for the frame to come back from powdercoat - what is the purpose of the small adaptor plates between the rear T-Bird knuckle and the brake caliper bracket? Are they only required for 15 inch wheels? (I ordered 17"s) I do not see those plates in my IRS box - maybe that's the reason?

I'm sure that is to compensate for the fact that it uses mustang rotors and caliper, and not the T-bird parts

the standard IRS setup uses T-bird knuckels and hubs (redrilled for 4 1/2 bolt pattern) with T-bird calipers and rotors. Other Cobra setups are possible but why would the assembly show the non-standard installation?

Hi Fred,

I think the photos you're looking at are of the IRS brakes that we offer rather than the stock T-Bird brakes. Ours use a '94-'04 GT caliper and the steel adapter bracket rather than the T-Bird rotors, which bolt directly to the spindle. If you're using all T-Bird parts, you won't have/use those brackets from the photo.
