My wife coined a saying on the last restoration that has carried over to the FFR build - "nothing good happens in the garage after 9:00."

It always seemed that after that hour is when I'd break something, cut myself, or get generally po'd about something.

Knocking off at 9 cuts down on build progress, but it sure helps my health and sanity.

Funny how whatever kicks your butt one day, will always go together after a good night's sleep and some thought to "hey, if I try to do it this way....."

I do the same thing - especially tinkering with things that aren't broken.

I've learned that if I just take the time to clean up everything, wipe down all of my tools and put them in the toolbox, sweep the floor around the car and workbench, and just relax for a bit, I can start getting some constructive work done again.

And Gumball, 9:00 is usually when the really good stuff starts happening for me.

I had a couple of 2 and 3 am nights last summer running brake lines and a parking brake modification that worked out. For the most part 11 or 12 is really pushing my luck.

Go in and have a drink. When you come back whatever you were working on will be asleep. You can sneak up on it and it will fall into place before it knows what happened.

when the wife looks out the garage door from the house and says nothing, looks you in the eyes and shuts the door.............................................. .................................................. ps wait a week and get back on it
and another one to complete the sentence: "when your layed off for 2 monthes and the bills stack up, but you still work on the car till you run out of parts or things to do".................and the wife looks out the door..........evil eyes, those no it won't be your lucky weekend eyes............................sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh h

I can absolutely relate to that! I've taken the same approach lately and have made fewer mistakes, have less frustration and fewer scars!

Yep, some times you have to put down the tools grab a bite and take a rest. Then get your butt back out there and teach that screw a lesson!
