I thought that several of you might be wondering (as I did) if you could get by with a pair of rear speakers. Well, what I found was, when driving the car as a roadster it won't work. I started with a pair of good 6"X9" in some custom cans behind the seats and then had to add a pair of 5 1/4" under the dash, and I am now happy with the sound. I had to make a mount that had some depth, for the speaker on the drivers side as there was not room for the speaker depth. I am sure several of you might need more of a sound system than me, but my solution might work for some. w/http://i930.photobucket.com/albums/ad148/jcopland/P1000296.jpg?t=1301008295

Looks good Jim. I have AC so I guess what you did on the driver side could be done on the passenger to clear the AC evaporator. I originally thought i would just put 5 1/4 speakers in the door panels but I am not even sure that will fit. theres not much space there either. I am not so concerned about good sound at highway speeds with the top off so maybe two speakers in the door or under the dash would be enough for me.

Jim, I placed all of my speakers in the back panel behind the seats. They are at ear level so they do not require much volume to have good sound.1367136813691370

Would you share pictures of your configuration from the front that will be visible? Thanks.

I will take some pictures this weekend and send them over. With the way the upholstery is in the front, you can barely see the punched holes in the front. There are no speaker grills to clutter the look.

Here are some photos from the front side of the panel. You'll notice there are no speaker grills to clutter up the appearance. The material is hole punched to allow the sound out.1394139513961397

Looks great. Just a wild guess but you might be a upholstery guy.

No, I am actually a tire guy. The upholstery guy wrapped it, and I built the enclosures and did the layout. The fit is extremely tight, but very clean.

Thanks for taking the time to take and share those pictures. Very helpful.
