View Full Version : Registering my Cobra in GA

Hello all, I am having a difficult time trying to register my Cobra. The Tag Office is saying that I need two appraisals to determine the TAVT. When I take it to a Ford Dealer they act as if they have never seen one and don't know or won't appraise it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Georgia you'll have to pay the new "title" tax which is why they want the value. I believe it is 6.5% this year and going up next year. I would think a value estimate could be obtained from someone besides the dealer?? If not go to CarMax, they advertise they'll buy your car even if you don't buy theirs. They'll give you a written offer, I believe.

Can you do your own research and present that to the tag office? Here in California we just take the receipts into the DMV. Several years ago the actually gave the clerks photo's of Cobra roadsters with a "suggested" value attached since people were trying to get by saying that it was a 40 year old car and not worth much.
