I apologize, I am sure this question has been asked and answered elsewhere in the forums, but I am not having any luck finding it. I am doing research on building a GTM and have some questions regarding chassis/suspension and various other components. Looking through the required parts list and with the understanding it is based off a C-5 platform, will components from a C-6 work the same? I.E.; control arms, brakes, parking brake, steering column, cooling system, ignition switch, throttle, wiring, fuel tanks, wiper motor, window regulators and all other sub-components and systems necessary to complete the build. I plan to run an LS7 and with that, I would like to buy a salvaged C-6 for a donor and have everything I need for the build in one shot less the transaxle, instead of buying all the components separately.
So all that to ask, do I need to look into a C-5 donor and find my LS7 and computer/harness elsewhere or am I good to roll with a C-6?

I asked the same question not too long ago & the answer I got was "some" of the C6 parts will work... the rear lower control arms are different... I'm not 100% sure they won't work but the general idea is not... I ran across a very low milage 06 LZ7 powered salvage vette for less than I could buy the engine alone & could not pass it up.... any C6 parts that won't work I will get from either a wrecking yard or from GM & should still come out with less "donor cost" than if I got a C5 donor & then bought a LS7, ECM & assorted required parts....

If I ever do this again, a C6 will be my primary donor primarily because of the updated tech and available tools for full customization. You should check out Aaron's build. I wonder what is usable from a C-7... just saw one with 2550 miles on one of the salvage sites... gonna be watching it & if the bidding doesn't get too outta hand I may have to snag it... :D

Funny.....I saw two, (one hardtop and a converable, both in white and still in running condition:D) the other week while the Mecum Auction was here.
The rear has a unique and IMO very cool look that really makes a statment.

Vidal... the one I saw was/is a bright blue.. runs/drives... I agree, the rear makes a statement... but the interior is what caught my eye.... the dash & instrument package looks wicked.... but the auction still has a week to go & the bid is already over $15K.... (probably gonna be in the $30k range by sale time....)

hummmmmm... supercharged LS9 with C7 electronics.....
think I'll stick with the 08 C6 LS7 ZO6... otherwise it'll be a LOT longer before I can order my GTM kit....

yup... I KNEW it was NOT gonna stay in the teens long, just 2 days & bids on the 14 C7 are already at $29K.... the 08 C6 is looking better ALL the time... glad I picked it up when I did...:D
